But her top fan rushed to comfort her. “Yvonne, you’re just too kind. That’s why people take advantage of you.”
“But Aurora’s still new,” Yvonne said softly, putting on a helpless expression. “I wanted to look out for her. Besides, the director hadn’t even contacted her at first. I don’t know how she suddenly got into the show later.”
“So she pulled strings to get in?” the fan gasped.
Yvonne blinked innocently. “I wouldn’t know. It was all arranged by the higher-ups.”
“She definitely pulled strings,” the fan said through gritted teeth. “Unbelievable. People still do this kind of thing? Doesn’t anyone bother to check her background?”
“I really don’t know anything about that,” Yvonne said, wiping away nonexistent tears, her voice trembling slightly.
“I was just following orders when they asked me to be a judge. I had no idea Aurora would be there too. No one even mentioned her name before I arrived.”
That only solidified the fan’s suspicion—Aurora must’ve been a special favor, someone who had used connections to get on the show.
Hearing her idol sound so hurt and wronged made the fan’s chest tighten with anger and sympathy.
“Don’t worry, Yvonne,” she said earnestly. “I understand. I’ll take care of this.”
Yvonne widened her eyes and feigned concern. “Wait, what are you planning to do?”
“Relax,” the fan said confidently. “You don’t have to worry about a thing. I know exactly what to do.”
Yvonne put on a look of worry, her voice full of anxious sincerity.
In that instant, a sense of purpose ignited inside her.
With a serious tone, she said over the phone, “Don’t worry, Yvonne. You just take care of yourself. As for Aurora, don’t go easy on her. We’ll always have your back.”
Hearing that, Yvonne covered her mouth and pretended to be deeply moved. “Alright, I understand. I won’t let myself be bullied again. I’ll remember that I have all of you behind me.”
“You’re my strongest support,” she continued with a tremor in her voice. “I’ll never give up on myself because I’ll always carry you in my heart.”
The fan was almost in tears.
For the first time, she felt truly seen by the person she admired most.
