Seeing that, Megan couldn’t help but complain, “Why did you stop me just now?”
Aurora asked calmly, “With that fiery temper of yours, do you think the two of you wouldn’t have ended up fighting in the dressing room?”
Without hesitation, Megan shot back, “She treated you like that… Of course I wanted to stand up to her!”
“What’s the point?” Aurora said patiently, her tone gentle but firm.
“We’re both part of this show. That means we have to think about the director first. What good would it do to argue with her? It has nothing to do with the program itself.
“And besides, she’s a judge while we’re the invited guests. This is her turf. What’s the use of fighting for pride when we’re on her home ground?”
After hearing Aurora’s reasoning, Megan gradually calmed down.
Thinking it over, she realized Aurora was right—her behavior had been impulsive.
And since the show started, Aurora had already apologized for her twice. That alone made her feel terribly guilty.
Even though she knew she’d caused trouble for Aurora, every time she saw Yvonne’s smug face, she just couldn’t help getting angry.
Sometimes, Megan hated how conflicted she was.
Why couldn’t she control her temper?
“I get it. You’re right,” she muttered, lowering her head, looking completely deflated, all her energy drained.
Compared to that morning, she seemed even more dispirited now.
Aurora noticed it too and felt a pang of guilt.
Her only intention had been to protect Megan, but judging from her reaction, it seemed to have backfired.
With a bitter laugh, Megan turned away. “So, you never really saw me as a friend, did you?”
“How could you even think that?”
Aurora’s heart sank at those words. She had believed that protecting Megan was for her own good.
But now, it seemed her actions had been completely misunderstood.
Megan’s eyes were firm as she said, “If that’s true, then why didn’t you let me stand in front of you just now when you were in danger?”
“Because I see you as family,” Aurora said, her voice trembling. “I don’t want you getting hurt. Besides, all of this was meant for me. You were only caught up in it because of me. Don’t you understand what I mean?”
By the time she finished, her voice had cracked with emotion.
Realizing this, Megan quickly turned around, eyes wide in alarm as she looked at Aurora.
