After all, Desmond knew very well that Lucas had absolutely nothing going on with Yvonne.
The two of them had worked together for years.
If anything romantic were ever going to happen, it would’ve happened long ago. Keeping it hidden until now would make no sense at all.
Seeing the fake intimate photos circulating online, Lucas’ expression darkened even more.
He hadn’t expected Yvonne to be so bold, posting things like this without even telling him beforehand.
She had completely overstepped, and her behavior was growing more outrageous by the day.
“Leave it for now. I need to think this through.”
In truth, Lucas’ first instinct was the same as Desmond’s.
The rumors had already spiraled out of control.
If he didn’t act soon, people might start thinking Yvonne was actually his wife.
That was never going to happen.
Desmond nodded, knowing better than to say more, and quietly left the room, closing the door behind him.
“Alright, Mr. Carter. I’ll let you think about it.”
Even now, Desmond still didn’t understand why the couple hadn’t made their marriage public.
Their relationship was strong and stable, going public would only benefit the company’s stock.
Otherwise, it left openings for people like Yvonne to exploit.
She dared to stir up gossip involving Lucas only because his wife’s identity hadn’t been officially confirmed.
If it had, she would never have had the courage to try.
The more he thought about it, the more he realized letting things go would only make it worse.
Finally, he decided to call Aurora.
When she saw his name flashing on her screen, she was momentarily surprised.
But after a second’s thought, she figured he must’ve seen the rumors online too.
With the internet in an uproar, it would’ve been impossible for him not to notice.
She answered the call, and sure enough, Lucas got straight to the point, asking about the situation online.
Aurora couldn’t help but ask, “You’re calling to ask about this. Does that mean you already have a plan in mind?”
In truth, her approach was simple: ignore it. She’d rather confront the person behind it directly than waste her time entertaining drama.
