Aurora Walton and Lucas Carter novel Chapter 1609

After all, Yvonne wasn’t unattractive. Standing beside Lucas, they looked like a perfect match.

When they’d worked together before, people online had already called them “a talented man and a beautiful woman,” and “a golden couple.”

The current media coverage was simply building on that old narrative, turning those rumors into something that looked real.

Aurora listened to Lucas in silence, still hesitating.

He could tell from her silence what she was thinking.

Lucas sighed. “You know, sometimes you should think about it this way. I’m behind you, and that means you have access to my network and resources.

“Why not use them? That’s what resources are for. Otherwise, why do you think people fight so hard to climb up? Do you really believe everyone makes it on their own?”

Aurora froze, momentarily stunned by his words.

She already had Lucas by her side—someone with power and influence. Why was she refusing to use it and making things so hard on herself?

If that was the case, what was she really chasing after?

And using his support didn’t mean she couldn’t achieve success on her own.

It would simply make the journey easier, and she had enough ability to stand on her own feet regardless. So why was she afraid of using what was already within her reach?

The realization hit her all at once, and she found herself feeling almost foolish.

Why had she been so stubborn about not making their relationship public?

Life did have shortcuts.

Aurora’s voice stopped him before he could hang up.

“I’ve been thinking. The solution you have in mind is probably just removing the trending topics and wiping the posts, right?”

Lucas nodded, not quite sure where she was going with this. “That’s right. If we don’t want people talking, the best way is to take the posts down.

“But that only treats the symptom, not the cause.”

Aurora frowned slightly. “Even if you take everything down, people’s curiosity will still be there. You can block the headlines, but you can’t stop them from talking.”

Lucas raised an eyebrow, realizing there might be a turning point.

“I understand what you mean,” he said seriously. “In fact, I think we’re on the same page.”
