He couldn’t shake the feeling that Aurora’s calmness was a sign something deeper was unraveling inside her.
Lucas couldn’t help asking, “Are you alright?”
“What could possibly be wrong with me? I think the one who should be worried is my mother.”
Aurora lifted the corner of her lips in a mocking smile.
“Isn’t this the biggest blow to her?”
Hearing that, Lucas found the logic hard to refute.
The one most anxious about this was probably his mother-in-law.
But the more he thought about it, the more ridiculous she seemed to him.
She overlooked her own daughter while giving someone else’s child all her warmth.
Tessa wasn’t even her biological child, so why neglect her own daughter while being so kind to someone else’s child?
Lucas found the whole thing unbelievable.
“So, have you figured out how you’re going to talk to your mom?”
Aurora froze on the spot.
The truth was, she really hadn’t figured out how to tell Grace.
Grace used to get along well with Tessa.
She knew exactly what their relationship was like.
So, trying to come up with an excuse to break this news to her mother left her completely lost.
Lucas saw her fall silent and immediately understood what she was thinking.
“So you haven’t figured it out yet, have you?”
Aurora nodded helplessly.
“That’s right. Because I haven’t figured it out, I don’t know how to bring it up with Mom. Even though I know Tessa was in the wrong, I don’t want to hurt her.”
Lucas let out a sigh.
“Then can you really bear to watch the company get ruined in Tessa’s hands?”
Aurora quickly shook her head.
“Of course not.”
The next second, she spoke through clenched teeth. “How could I let my mother’s years of hard work be handed over to someone else?”
“Tessa didn’t appreciate her kindness, and now she’s still doing this to her. No matter what, I’m not going to let it stay hidden.”
Lucas smiled. “See? You already know the answer deep down.”
Aurora froze for a moment.
“Looks like I ignored what I truly felt.”
She couldn’t help glancing at Lucas, a rare hint of vulnerability softening her expression.
