Aurora Walton and Lucas Carter novel Chapter 1766

“At that time, you had your own dreams and your own expectations. Isn’t that a good thing?”

Lucas kept soothing Aurora’s emotions.

“In my eyes, you’ve always been independent and driven.”

“I don’t just admire you. Sometimes I feel like I should be learning from you.”

“Are you serious?”

Aurora was surprised, convinced he had to be teasing her.

“Of course I am. Why would I lie to you?”

Lucas cupped her face.

When their eyes met, it felt as if both their hearts skipped a beat.

“To me, you’re not only independent, you’re strong. No matter what you face, you never back down easily. That’s the kind of woman you are—someone who knows her own mind.”

“With you saying all that, I’m getting a little embarrassed.”

Her face sat softly in Lucas’ palms, bright and warm.

She could clearly feel her cheeks heating up.

Lucas noticed and found it adorable.

He leaned in and brushed a gentle kiss against her forehead.

“Alright, stop worrying about this. Think about the general direction first. If you can’t decide, then come ask me again.”

“Okay, I got it.”

After settling things, they finally drove off.

Inside the house, Grace sat on the couch, her mind replaying everything Aurora had just said.

She lifted her hand, staring at her palm, torn and unsettled.

Was she really the one who handled everything wrong? Should she truly not believe what Aurora said?

The most urgent thing now was to confirm what was really going on.

Grace took a deep breath. Even if she didn’t believe Aurora’s words, it was better to be prepared.

That was what a corporate leader should do.

Grace had held her position for so many years. Sitting in that seat meant she had her ways—she was never someone to be pushed around.

She would never allow that.

The call rang for quite a while before it was finally answered.

The moment Grace heard her voice, she went straight to the point.

“Tessa, where are you? Can you come back for a moment?”

“Mom, does it have to be that urgent?”

“Yes. Come back now.”

Grace’s tone was firm, especially after hearing what Aurora said, she felt they couldn’t afford to waste even a single minute.
