Aurora Walton and Lucas Carter novel Chapter 1785

“Those were your words?”

“Of course they were.” Aurora lifted her chin with a hint of pride. “I’m just grateful we didn’t miss each other.”

“And I’m grateful I get to have you.”

Hearing that, Lucas felt something shift deeply inside him.

He hadn’t expected Aurora’s attitude toward him to change this much.

There was a time when neither of them trusted the other.

Reaching this point meant they had endured so much together—struggles only the two of them truly understood.

Anyone else would never grasp what they’d been through.

“Aurora, this time, I’m never letting go of your hand.”

Lucas’ voice held quiet joy.

“It’s not just you who feels lucky to have me. I’m just as lucky I didn’t lose you.”

“Then from now on, we move forward together.”

“Of course. My future plans will always include you,” Lucas said it with complete sincerity.

Aurora didn’t hesitate. “I know what you mean. From now on, we’ll only cherish each other more.”

“So will I.”

Then Aurora brought the conversation back.

“If that’s the case, I’ll handle Yvonne myself. I’ll talk to her properly.”

But Lucas spoke seriously.

“You don’t need to worry about how I feel. Just do whatever aligns with your own judgment.”

“But we’re married now. Of course, your feelings matter to me.”

Aurora was thinking for Lucas’s sake as well.

“What kind of plan could she possibly come up with? Are you sure you didn’t misunderstand?”

She replied softly, “That was an insult to Megan.”

Lucas rubbed the bridge of his nose, a little embarrassed.

He realized he might have gone too far.

But after all this time, he had gotten used to it and Megan never held grudges over small things.

“It’s fine. Just don’t tell her I said that.”

Aurora hesitated, suddenly unsure.

Seeing that, Lucas immediately understood where her soft spot was.

“You’re with me right now, so of course you should be siding me.”

Lucas kept a straight face. “But when you’re with Megan, you always end up siding with her.”
