Aurora Walton and Lucas Carter novel Chapter 1844

Hearing that, Tessa didn’t know what to say.

She stared at the disconnected call, a wave of anxiety rising instantly.

If she let Grace keep thinking this way, would the situation spiral out of control?

More importantly, she and Sean had already discussed the matter.

This was a direction she absolutely couldn’t allow things to keep heading in.

They hadn’t achieved their goal yet. If things continued down this path, then what would all their earlier efforts amount to?

They had planned for so long. If everything fell apart now, wouldn’t that mean all those months were wasted?

The thought alone made Tessa uneasy.

Sean had told her to report anything important to him.

And now, she truly couldn’t make a decision on her own.

She felt it was still best to talk to Sean.

To her, he was the anchor she relied on.

And what he said always felt achievable.

As long as nothing major went wrong, they could carry out the plan exactly as he had arranged.

Like Sean often reminded her—they were tied together now. Their fates rose and fell as one, so there was no point getting hung up on anything else.

Because if one of them fell, they both fell, which meant every development needed to be shared immediately.

Otherwise, if something didn’t line up and a mistake happened, who among them could bear the consequences?

With that thought, Tessa went straight to find Sean.

He didn’t seem to think the way most people did.

He wasn’t particularly good to her, but he wasn’t outright cruel either.

Still, she never understood why he was so harsh with her.

She met every demand he placed on her so many times, only for him to push her to do more.

Tessa felt she had already done so much, yet he continued to insist she wasn’t worthy of being his daughter.

Every time she thought about it, she found it absurd.

If she truly wasn’t worthy, then why bring her into the world only to abandon her?

Setting that aside, why did he come back to acknowledge her now?

No matter what, she and Grace had spent so many years together, and their relationship had always held steady.
