After all, those matters were not something she could control.
She had already severed ties with Grace, and what happened next was no longer within her reach.
More importantly, her focus now needed to be on building her own career.
No matter how one looked at it, helping Grace up to this point was already the limit of what she owed.
And yet, over all this time, she never truly abandoned Grace. She had continued to support her.
That alone proved that Aurora still held some affection for her mother.
But now that Tessa’s scheme had been exposed, whatever happened afterward had nothing to do with her anymore.
“Let’s go. We’re heading back.”
With that thought, Aurora looked at Lucas, her gaze steady and resolved.
In that moment, Lucas could tell that the weight on her shoulders had finally eased.
Compared to before, her expression was lighter, even faintly cheerful.
Her whole presence seemed freer.
“What is it?” Lucas asked, a little curious. “Did you finally work something out?”
Aurora did not hide her feelings.
She answered directly.
“Of course. The thing that’s been weighing on me is finally settled. How could I not be happy?”
Lucas paused, then said softly, “I still think you’re too kind.”
“What do you mean by that?”
Aurora looked at him with some curiosity, not quite understanding.
From her point of view, she had already been ruthless enough.
After all, she had exposed Tessa’s true nature in front of the entire family.
Now everyone knew that Tessa was nothing more than a fraud.
And on top of that, she was not even a biological member of the Walton family.
