Ronan’s fingers convulsed in a violent spasm.

“As long
leave…
as she does not step out of the Crimson Lantern… Father will not kill her…”
Elowen’s fingers curled into tight fists,
Valessa’s expression was terrifying, her eyes rimmed with furious red.
“The Crimson Lantern Flowira is locked inside the Crimson Lantern!”
Valessa ground the words out through her teeth, looking ready to rip Ronan limb from limb.
He claimed he loved Flowira. Flowira had given him nothing but her pure, unguarded heart.
How dare he–how could be possibly endure-locking her inside that festering hellhole?!
Elowen’s voice cut through the rage, cold and authoritative. “We cannot act rash. The Crimson Lantern is swarming with royals and nobles. If we march soldiers in there right now, Malkor will be tipped off. Flowira
is still in his clutches, and co ess innocent women are trapped inside those walls.”
Valessa closed her eyes, forcing the boiling rage down.
“Then what is our move?”
Elowen turned to Noah. “Grandfather, how long until Ronan wakes up?”
Noah replied in a smooth tone. “Unless I allow it, he will remain asleep past dawn.”
Elowen nodded. “Keep him locked down, and keep a close eye on Darius. I will handle the Crimson Lantern in person.”
Valessa protested. “I’m coming with you.”
Elowen met her gaze. “You cannot show your face. You are the Princess Royal. The second you step anywhere near the Crimson Lantern, their guards will go on high alert.”
Valessa’s fists trembled.
Elowen continued, “I will send a scout first. If we can extract Flowira without alerting Malkor’s faction, that is our best play.”
Valessa’s voice cracked. “If she is already…”
‘She is alive.
Elowen cut her off, her tone leaving zero room for doubt I will bring her back.”

Valessa asked, “Who are you taking with you? Anson?”
Elowen paused for a second. “Did I not bring a servant with me?”
Valessa understood the implication. “Go. Bring Thomas here.”
Meanwhile, at the Crimson Lantern.
The deeper the night grew, the more chaotic the brothel became.

Rows of red lanterns hung beneath the sweeping eaves. The seductive melodies of string and flute drifted from the towering floors, mixing with the heavy stench of alcohol and cheap perfume, suffocating the
entire street.
Carriages pulled into the rear alley, their blinds drawn tight.
Most of the men stepping out wore heavy veils or had attendants shielding their faces before slipping through the side doors.
No one asked for their names, and absolutely no one dared to look.
Deep within the Crimson Lantern, on the third floor of the Moonlit Pavilion, Flowira sat in the easternmost private suite. She had been trapped there for days.
It didn’t look like a prison cell.
Plush couches, a blazing brazier, exquisite pastries, and even her favorite milk wine were provided in abundance.
Meals were delivered like clockwork, and maids arrived daily with fresh changes of clothes.
Except for the heavy brass lock on the door and the iron bars welded over the windows, it was simply a magnificent, gilded cage.
Ronan had not allowed anyone to torture her. No one had even dared to raise their voice at her.
But Flowira would rather take a knife to the gut than be caged like a prize bird.
Standing by the window, she stared down at the flickering lights below.
Over the past few days, she had memorized the guards’ patrol routes and shift changes flawless.
Every night at precisely a quarter to midnight, the two guards stationed in the eastern corridor would slip away for a cup of hot wine. They were gone for exactly half a incense stick’s time.
The servant delivering the night’s charcoal would pass through during that exact window. And that servant carried the keys to the side gates.
This was her one and only chance.
Flowira looked down at the brutal, jagged lacerations on her wrist, carefully hidden beneath a silk ribbon.
She had spent the last few days methodically grinding the iron bars down with her gold harpin

Chapter 812 The Gilded Cage
The heavy footsteps outside her door finally faded away.
Holding her breath, she walked to the table and picked up the bowl of scalding milk wine.
Moments later, the charcoal servant pushed the door open.
“Miss, time to restock the coals.”
The exact second he bent down, Flowira hurled the hot wine directly into his face.
The servant screamed in agony.

Flowira snatched the heavy bronze candlestick from the table and smashed it viciously into the back of his neck.
The man groaned and collapsed to the floor.
She rapidly stripped the keys from his belt, tore off his outer robe, and threw it over her own shoulders. Keeping her head bowed, she slipped out the door in a flash.
The corridor was dimly lit.
The distant, seductive music and roaring laughter masked the sound of her frantic breathing.
Flowira didn’t dare to run.
The more she panicked, the faster she would be caught.
Hunching her shoulders to mimic the servant’s slouch, she gripped the charcoal basket and kept moving.
