Full Fragrance Tower is one of the most renowned restaurants around here, authentic and grand. Locals who visit there would go back boasting for several days.
The Cheng family is clearly a valued guest of this restaurant, because you can see how the staff treat Cheng Yaozu with utmost respect and deference.
As they made their way to the Peony Private Room on the third floor, Cheng Su thought this welcome banquet was just for the Old Master, but unexpectedly, there were quite a few people inside.
"So many people!" exclaimed Ying Xiaoya in awe.
"Compose yourself!" Ning Ge lightly coughed and straightened up a bit. His grandfather had told him that the old man here was an Old Red Army soldier who fought against the Japanese back then, a man deserving of respect.
Red Army soldiers are one family, so there’s no way we can lose face.
"Dad, I’ve safely brought them over!" Cheng Yaozu chuckled.
This was an exceptionally large private room with a big dining table that could seat up to sixteen people, while the other half was partitioned into a sitting area with a huanghuali wood screen, which was now opened, revealing its entire arrangement.
The room was furnished with huanghuali wood furniture, a set of kung fu tea utensils on the table, a fruit platter, and some snacks. The walls displayed various calligraphy and paintings, including Chinese peony paintings and landscape ink paintings.
A large TV sat on the TV cabinet against the wall, with a big round-bellied blue-and-white porcelain vase holding a perennial plant.
People were scattered around the room, either sitting on sofas or at the dining table, and they all stood up when they saw Cheng Su and her group enter.
"Xiao Su, here we meet again!" Old Master Cheng’s eyes lit up upon seeing Cheng Su, and he stepped forward, followed by others behind him.
"I see, that’s fine, there will always be chances to meet." Old Master Cheng laughed heartily, then pointed to a line of people behind him, "Come, meet the family. Yaozu, you do the introductions."
Cheng Yaozu dropped the orange peel in his hand and stepped forward with a smile, "Let’s skip my second brother since you’ve met him already. This is my eldest brother."
Cheng Su had long noticed this middle-aged man who’d been watching her, and she stepped forward to greet him, "Secretary Cheng."
Before Cheng Yaoguang could speak, Old Master Cheng interjected, "Why call him Secretary, that’s too formal, call..."
Everyone looked at him, and after a brief moment, Old Master Cheng concluded, "Call him elder brother, yes, just call him elder brother!"
The people of the Cheng family were taken aback, Cheng Su herself was also stunned, while Ning Ge just slightly narrowed his eyes.
