New Year’s Eve, another year of celebrating, Cheng Su slept comfortably in the warm bed, suddenly feeling someone tugging at her blanket, a gentle, childish voice calling.
"Auntie, Auntie, wake up, silly."
Cheng Su slowly opened her eyes, squinting towards the source of the voice. It turned out to be that cheeky little Baobao softly calling beside her bed. Seeing her respond, the little guy clapped his hands excitedly.
"Wake up!"
"How did you get in here?" Cheng Su hugged the blanket, turned sideways to tease the little guy by the bed.
Last night, after dinner, thinking today is New Year’s Eve, Elder Sister didn’t return to her rented place but stayed over here.
She shared a room with Xiao Yun, Elder Sister and Little Sister shared a room, Mother-in-law stayed with Xiao Bao.
Early in the morning, Xiao Yun was already up; when she woke, she didn’t even disturb Cheng Su.
"Ah, ah." Xiao Bao pointed outside: "Food, eat!"
Cheng Su smelled a fragrant meal, her stomach growled, outside, Qi Fenglian walked to the door, seeing Cheng Su half-up, said: "I was considering whether to call you. Since you’re up, have breakfast!"
"Okay!"
She climbed out of the warm bed, kissed the little one’s cheek, pushed him out of the room, closed the door, and changed her clothes first.
In the living room, the TV was on, Father Qi and the others were watching, but barely any sound was heard.
"Dad, morning, you should turn up the TV volume some." Cheng Su walked over, picked up the remote to show him: "Adjust here..."
Having a great son and daughter-in-law was indeed his blessing.
Cheng Su entered the house yawning, greeted everyone, then retreated to her room for a nap, as for the New Year’s Eve dinner, with mother-in-law, Elder Sister, and Little Sister, didn’t need to lift a finger.
This was the first time Cheng Su truly felt she enjoyed the perks of being pregnant, thanks to her baby, she could throw off her responsibilities during this festive season.
Had she not been pregnant, being in the countryside, she’d likely have to roll up her sleeves to work.
"You little rascal, arrived at just the right time, saved your mom a lot of trouble." Cheng Su touched her belly, having her routine dialogue with the baby inside, sighed: "If tonight, you let me eat more and don’t throw up, I’ll truly cherish you forever!"
After speaking, she drifted into sleep, dreaming of the baby’s clear, crisp laughter.
