Once the Mid-Autumn Festival was over, Old Master Cheng and the others left. Some returned to Guangcheng, while others went back to their hometowns.
Father Qi was quite surprised by his wife’s unexpected departure to their hometown because he originally thought the old lady would cling to staying here. Despite his reluctance to leave his adorable grandson, the old lady didn’t seem to care.
He only found out her reason upon asking in the car—it turns out she was in a hurry to return home to perform some ritual to dispel evil spirits.
Upon hearing the old lady’s explanation, Father Qi was left speechless.
Cheng Su was also a bit surprised by her mother-in-law’s compliance; it was the first time she saw Mother Qi being so accommodating. She thought she would cause some trouble and insist on staying.
"What’s the point of staying? You can see but not touch, just eye candy with no real benefit. Your mother-in-law is going back for a ceremony; she already asked me about it," Mother Cheng said while folding her grandson’s diapers.
"Asked you about what?" Cheng Su was curious.
"Even if I tell you, you wouldn’t understand. It’s just some taboos. I reckon your mother-in-law might spend a lot for the chance to hold Xiao Qi," Mother Cheng said.
Cheng Su was speechless, lowered her head, and poked Qi Xiaoqi’s chubby little face, saying, "Look at you, you’ve scared your grandma away!"
Qi Xiaoqi grabbed her finger and giggled.
"Laugh, laugh, I wonder if you’re doing this on purpose," Cheng Su snorted, watching her son’s expression and eyes carefully.
It’s not that she was overthinking it, but being someone who came back from the dead, seeing her son act like this made her wonder if he was doing it deliberately. After all, what regular baby behaves this way? If this was a reincarnated baby, it wouldn’t be surprising.
However, she couldn’t figure anything out; her son just kept laughing dumbly, with his big eyes rolling around, exuding an inexplicable charm. Cheng Su could not help but sigh.
With everyone gone, the house suddenly felt quiet. Looking at the mess, Cheng Su tidied up a bit, then helped with the laundry and diapers.
