For several consecutive days, because of the Seafood Shop’s grand opening, Cheng Su stayed at the shop, even bringing Qi Xiaoqi along to help out, letting Mother Cheng and the Cheng family’s sisters-in-law go shopping.
The Seafood Shop is different from a restaurant or tavern; once opened, customers come in gradually, as the times aren’t particularly prosperous yet, and there aren’t many families who can afford expensive seafood.
So in this shop, the affordable goods far outnumber the premium ones. Of course, the high-end items are available but in limited quantities; they require advance orders for large purchases.
When there were few customers, Cheng Su didn’t let the employees idle. When she brought in inventory initially, she detailed the various items in a notebook and printed two or three copies for the employees to study thoroughly. This way, they wouldn’t be clueless when asked and could make the customers feel that they are professionals.
After a few days, the two sisters have done reasonably well. They could smoothly promote items when guests inquired. Of course, the shop has so many goods, and remembering everything wasn’t achieved immediately; it had to be gradual.
Cheng Su herself also checked and took the opportunity to explain to Qi Xiaoqi what each item was, where it came from, and its benefits.
Qi Xiaoqi seemed uninterested, often treating his mother’s lectures like a lullaby, falling asleep.
"So hot, so hot." A crisp female voice interrupted Cheng Su’s reading. She looked up to see Yu Qingjiu and Qi Jianguo, who went out distributing flyers, returning, both of their faces flushed from the sun.
The shop was freshly opened, and to let everyone know there was a new Seafood Shop, Cheng Su printed plenty of flyers for the youngsters to distribute daily.
"You’re back!" Sister Luh greeted warmly, poured some cool water, and said, "Have some water first; it’s too hot today."
Sister Liu also said, "Yes, did you not stand under shaded areas when handing out flyers?"
Yu Qingjiu stood under the fan and gulped down the water, saying, "I did stand under shade, but it’s too hot even at thirty degrees; just standing there makes you sweat."
Yu Qingjiu introduced the products enthusiastically, mentioning which were good for the elderly and which were for women’s beauty care. She spoke crisply and humorously, making the boss laugh aloud, waving his hand, saying he wanted them all.
"Alright!" Yu Qingjiu turned to Cheng Su, saying: "Boss, this is my fellow townsman; could we do a big discount on this order and offer a 5% off? Remember, long-term gains!"
This was indeed the first big order since the opening, so how could Cheng Su decline? She agreed with a smile.
After packing everything neatly and giving a business card, seeing off the customer, Yu Qingjiu came up to Cheng Su to claim credit: "Boss, did I pass?"
"Yes. We’ll rely on you this summer!" Cheng Su laughed.
Yu Qingjiu made a fist in mid-air with a victorious sign, making everyone in the shop smile brightly.
