Cheng Su and Zhan Qin talked for half a day about business experience, and about the shop’s development, among other things. They hit it off immediately, and both felt that their future cooperation would be pleasant rather than unsatisfactory.
After they ended their conversation, they agreed to visit the Seafood Shop the next day.
Cheng Su went to the Cheng family and found Old Master Cheng. As soon as she opened her mouth, she said, "Godfather, where did you find such an interesting person? And to help me manage a small shop—won’t that be an overqualified use of talent?"
"Oh? You’ve talked already?" Old Master Cheng was practicing calligraphy.
"Yes, we’ve talked. He’s quite a smart person. I think when he was studying, he must have been an outstanding student," Cheng Su probed tentatively.
Old Master Cheng feigned ignorance of her probing and said, "I don’t know if he was an outstanding student; whether you use him well depends on the results he can produce for you. If it works out well, that’s your skill and fortune."
"He is..." Cheng Su probed again.
Old Master Cheng put down the large brush in his hand, glanced at her, and said, "When did you become so hesitant in your speech?"
Cheng Su chuckled awkwardly and shook his arm playfully.
"He is the grandson of an old comrade of mine. The child is unfortunate, as his parents passed away early. Later, his grandfather also passed, and entrusted him to me. Over the years, I’ve been supporting him, and he just recently returned from abroad," Old Master Cheng explained.
Cheng Su realized why Zhan Qin listened to Old Master Cheng so well.
"Well, for such a talent, I don’t even know what salary to offer him," Cheng Su said.
