The grand opening was supposed to be straightforward, but with the sudden appearance of Ning Gang and the others, the event turned into a grand reunion as Ying Jian recognized one or two high-ranking officials, such as the Municipal Party Secretary Zhang Xuennian. After being introduced by him, she gained insight into the identities of those present at the scene.
Especially Ning Ge, Ying Jian glanced at his daughter, his eyes brimming with joy.
Regrettably, Miss Ying was merely full of curiosity, completely oblivious to her father’s warm gaze.
Wang Gang and Zhu Lifen saw that the auspicious time was nearly passing and went ahead, though reluctantly, to invite Cheng Su and Ning Ge for the unveiling and ribbon-cutting.
Cheng Su, however, was in a bit of a dilemma. The most eminent guest she had initially invited was Ying Jian, but now there were many others present with higher ranks!
Ying Jian then took the initiative to suggest that Cheng Su invite Ning Gang and company to cut the ribbon.
"No, no, no, I’m just here to see what’s happening. Just go ahead as you would normally," Ning Gang declined.
Old Master Ning said, "We can’t disrupt the procedures; the success or failure of this company run by the young people depends on your leadership. Am I right? Big brother, you can let him carry a gun into battle, but this sort of cultural activity, no! Military matters are handled by military officers. As for economic development, of course, it’s the civil officials who take charge, right?"
"The chief really has a commanding presence, well said!" Ying Jian, not one to flatter hastily, then looked toward Secretary Zhang, "How about it, Secretary Zhang, perhaps you could give these young folks some encouragement?"
"No, no, please, you’re the guest of honor. I simply came with the chief and others just to watch," Zhang Xuennian repeatedly waved his hand.
Ying Jian then gave Cheng Su a knowing look.
Cheng Su approached with a smile and said to Zhang Xuennian, "Secretary Zhang, I’ve long heard of your great reputation. Our Qing City relies on your leadership. Joy Soon Loy’s completion today owes much to you, and we hope for your continued support! Please, honor us."
"Indeed, give the youngsters some encouragement," Ning Gang said authoritatively.
