Chapter 293 Plan This Carefully
Layla shifted back to her human form and stepped toward the fallen Queen. “We told you we mean no harm. If we wanted you dead, you already would be.”
The Queen, now acutely aware of the gap in their strength, glared up with bitter resentment.
Her voice remained ethereal but laced with venom. “Then kill me if you must.”
Layla sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.
Even with the ability to communicate, her comprehension is… lacking.
Oliver rolled up his sleeves, ready to march over. “Maybe her head needs a good knock to get things working. Let me try.”
Layla held him back with a firm look.
Shane moved forward instead.
His tone was cool, yet carried an unexpected gentleness. “We won’t kill you. We can even help you. Tell us where your old hive was. We’ll take it back for you.”
The Queen’s eyes widened briefly in surprise before she turned away, distrust evident.
Layla crouched down, placing a hand gently on the Queen’s forehead.
“That hive matters to us, too. There might be something we need inside, We want what’s in there, not your subjects. Why can’t you trust us?”
The Queen retorted, “Because your kind hunted my people! Took them apart for their shells-for your armor!”
For mech armor?
Layla glanced at Shane, who gave a firm nod. “After absorbing Starcore Ore, a Golden Carapax Beetle’s shell becomes one of the hardest substances in the galaxy.”
Layla’s eyes glinted as she clenched her fists.
Then it probably has nothing to do with Ciara. If he had found that resource, he’d have stripped the hive bare long ago.
She locked eyes with the Queen again. “We want to search your old hive. Are those humans still there? We could help you settle the score.”
The Queen’s gaze turned complicated before she lowered her head. “They left long ago, after finding nothing. Now… Thunder Pterosaurs rule the cavern.”
Thunder Pterosaurs?
Layla frowned, recalling the Quetzalcoatlus she had faced before.
Lightning-based abilities spelled serious trouble.

How many of them were there? This raid could turn disastrous.
She turned to Shane, speaking quietly. “We need to plan this carefully. Charge in unprepared, and we might not make it back.
Shane agreed with a nod.
The Queen’s stern expression finally softened:
She whispered. “If you truly reclaim my hive… I will be grateful. There is something I can give you. It should aid your fight.”
Layla tilted her head, curious. “What is it?”
The Queen grew secretive. “Only after you succeed. I will hand it over then.”
It was clear she feared that naming the prize might tempt them to simply seize it.
After their earlier clash, she knew she stood no chance against them.
The others stayed silent, waiting for Layla’s decision.
Finally. Layla clapped her hands once, the sound echoing through the hollow cavern. “Alright. We’ll help
you.
The Queen’s eyes lit up, a genuine smile touching her features. “Since you fight for my kin’s vengeance… take this now.”
