Chapter 321 Go Tame the Beast
Seeing the tide of online opinion firmly behind Layla, Fiona gritted her teeth in concession.
“Alright, we’ll do it your way. But you get one day. If things go south and someone gets hurt, don’t say I didn’t warn you about the consequences.”
The thinly veiled threat, or perhaps just a weary producer’s stark warning, wasn’t lost on Layla
After all the mishaps this season, Fiona’s desire for a smooth operation was understandable.
A confident smile spread across Layla’s face. “One day is all I need. Consider it handled.”
With that, she motioned for Carson and Oliver to follow her.
George immediately stepped into her path, his expression bewildered.
“Why only take those two?” he asked.
Layla saw right through him. On the surface, he was asking why Carson and Oliver were chosen.
But what he really meant was: why them, and not him?
With a soft, exasperated tap to his forehead, she explained, “Prince Oliver’s royal lineage gives him a natural edge with animals. And Carson?” She gestured toward the stoic man. “He’s an alpha wolf. Need I say more?”
George’s shoulders slumped, his handsome features twisting into a pout of disappointment he couldn’t quite argue away.
At the sight of his dejected look, Layla’s expression softened.
She reached up and gently cupped his cheek. “I’ll make you something delicious when we get back, okay?”
Like sunshine breaking through clouds, George’s face lit up. “Really? Layla, you’re the best!”
As Layla saw George so easily appeased, a warmth spread through her chest.
On the path leading toward the hyena den from the previous day, Carson couldn’t help voicing his worry. “Are you sure about this, Layla?”
Layla gave a firm nod.
Back in the apocalypse, she’d faced far more than just zombies and scheming humans.
Animals were the real nightmare.
Even those without mutations possessed abilities far beyond human limits, which was why she’d long ago figured out how to survive.
She winked at Carson. “You don’t take on a job without confidence. Trust me, I know what I’m doing.”
Her confidence eased some of the tension in Carson’s shoulders.

Fraighed
Oliver, however, remained perfectly relaxed beside them, a faint smile softening his aristocratic features.
He cherished this rare chance to be alone with Layla.
Leaning closer, he offered in a low voice, “Layla, if there’s anything I can do, don’t hesitate. I’m at your service. I’m laying down my life.”
Hearing this, Layla had no intention of being polite.
Her eyebrows arched playfully as she grinned and pointed toward the hyena den ahead. “Perfect timing. ahead and pressure them. If you can’t handle it, I’ll step in.”
Oliver’s face froze. His lips parted, releasing a single stunned syllable. “Huh?”
Layla nodded with absolute certainty and even gave his shoulder an encouraging pat. “Go on, Prince Oliver. Time to show what you’re made of.”
All the bravado from moments earlier vanished from Oliver’s expression.
His handsome face fell, and his striking eyes widened with disbelief, fixing Layla with a look of pure grievance.
“Layla, you can’t be serious. You want me to go in there alone?”
As royalty, Oliver was accustomed to a life of comfort.
While he had some combat training, facing down a pack of vengeful, savage hyenas without his mech was more than a little daunting.
But Layla’s smile only deepened, her eyes crinkling at the corners.
She gave his shoulder another gentle pat, her tone coaxing. “Don’t worry. You’re a royal-that innate intimidation is in your blood. I have faith in you. Besides, we’ll be right here watching. If anything goes wrong, we’ll be there in a heartbeat.”
She wasn’t lying.
Though Oliver was a minor royal, his bloodline carried a genuine, primal authority over other beasts-a fact he himself was unaware of.
