Chapter 157: Chapter 156: It Can’t Be the Beast God Incarnate, Can It?

Yan Qingya: "I heard she’s been seeing a male recently. He’s from the Lanton Family’s lab. They say you two had some friction and you kicked him out."

Bai Su’s lips twitched. ’It couldn’t be that much of a coincidence, could it?’ she thought.

Yan Qingya said laughingly, "She’s been running around, screaming that she’s going to show up at your door with a knife to chop you to bits. Be careful when you go out."

Bai Su was speechless, at a loss for words.

Yan Qingya patted her shoulder. "But you know, those heavyweight doctors from the Lanton Family who hold multiple core medical patents are extremely sought-after worldwide."

"Countless members of the Royal Family are trying to curry favor with them. I don’t know if you just stepped in shit or what, but you actually managed to get in with them."

"I hear even Yelias himself finds it difficult to get along with them."

Bai Su felt a growing sense of absurdity as she listened. "Is that so..."

’They’re just two little old men who find excuses to come over for dinner every other day and bicker at the table.’

*

When Bai Su got home, she saw two old men at her door and her lips twitched. "Grandpa Flar, Grandpa McKoff, did you get locked out again?"

The two old men looked at her sheepishly, their eyes filled with awkwardness.

Her lips twitching, Bai Su opened the door and let them in.

Yelias was in the living room reading a book. When he saw Bai Su lead them in, his face instantly fell.

Flar cleared his throat. "Miss Bai invited me in for dinner."

Bai Su gave Yelias an amused look. "It’s just a matter of setting two more places."

Yelias scowled.

’It was rare enough that Lu Tingyan was busy dealing with the Medical Alliance and the little cubs weren’t home. We finally had some alone time, and now these old men have to ruin it.’

’Next time, I’ll have to shoo them away properly. So old, yet they can’t read the room at all!’

Bai Su then asked a maid to call Hua Hua out for dinner.

’With more people, it would be a bit livelier.’

With more elderly people this time, she made the food’s flavors relatively light.

She used some small, freshly caught seafood to make a soup—it was the perfect choice.

She had also made a special trip to dig up some spring bamboo shoots, which she stewed with a mature hen until it was savory and sweet.

Dinner was soon ready and served. Hua Hua sat obediently nearby. "Susu, your cooking is delicious!"

Bai Su smiled and ladled a bowl of soup for her. "Then you should eat up."

Hua Hua nodded with a smile, took the soup, and began to eat on her own.

Yelias said bluntly to the two old men, "Hurry up and eat. Once you’re done, get lost."

The two old men, on the receiving end of his scorn, simply buried their faces in their food and ignored him completely.

They had never had such delicious food before. Coming over to mooch a meal once every three days was already the absolute limit of their self-control!

Their medical research work was usually so busy that they simply didn’t have time to go and wait in line at Bai Su’s restaurant during the lunch rush.

Bai Su shot him a helpless glance. "Yelias, be more polite to your elders."

Yelias reigned in his temper a bit and looked primly at the two old men. "Would you two esteemed elders please finish eating, call a cab immediately, and leave without dallying."

Bai Su: "..."

Flar was halfway through his meal when he caught sight of the woman’s hand out of the corner of his eye. He froze. "What is that?!"

Hearing this, McKoff looked up as well. "What’s wrong?"

Flar’s face went pale with alarm. "Quick, look at her hand! Is that a plum-blossom-shaped mark on her wrist?!"

McKoff leaned in for a look, then hastily covered his mouth and nose and scrambled away. "Yes! It is!!"

Bai Su was baffled. "What’s wrong with you two?"

Flar quickly pulled her away. "Who is this female? Don’t you know she’s carrying the Plum Virus?"

At these words, Yelias’s expression hardened, and he swiftly pulled Bai Su behind him.

The Plum Virus was no stranger to them.

It was a highly contagious, 100% fatal virus with no known cure.
