She was touched. "Thank you, Li Chenlin. I love it."
Li Chenlin personally fastened the bracelet for her.
He added, "I don’t want to lie to you. There’s a tracking system in this bracelet. It’s not to monitor you, but just in case you’re ever in danger, I can find you immediately."
"Unlike a smart-brain, the signal from this can’t be blocked."
Bai Su smiled. "Okay. I really love this gift."
The silver chain, set with star-like blue gems, was interspersed around her wrist. She had a cool, fair complexion, and the silver chain looked exceptionally beautiful on her.
Li Chenlin said, "I’m glad you like it. Let’s continue exploring."
To Bai Su’s surprise, as they continued their exploration, she found a gift in nearly every other box.
There was a complete set of a hat, scarf, and gloves that Li Chenlin had knitted himself; a box that, when opened, set off a grand fireworks display; a set of exquisite cookware engraved with her name...
Not one more, not one less—exactly 22 gifts.
While many of the items weren’t necessarily expensive, they were all clearly prepared from her perspective and with her preferences in mind.
Bai Su was incredibly moved. She looked at Li Chenlin, a bit shyly. "When did you prepare all this?"
Li Chenlin’s lips curved. "I’ve been thinking about how to make you happy. I heard that young females get really happy when they receive birthday presents, so I wanted to prepare this for you."
He had, after all, pulled several all-nighters, sifting through thousands of overbearing CEO novels to find ways to please the female lead.
’Make up for all the birthday presents she had missed over the years!’
He had prepared every one of these gifts himself, which had taken a considerable amount of time.
In order to learn how to knit, his own mother had laughed at him for a long time, calling him an idiot.
Several times, his mother had almost let it slip at the dinner table, and he’d had to frantically change the subject.
All for this day.
When he saw Bai Su’s big, sparkling eyes curve into happy little crescent moons, he finally felt that all his efforts hadn’t been in vain.
When Bai Su was happy, he was even happier.
Bai Su suddenly stood on her tiptoes and kissed the corner of his mouth. "Thank you! I’m really, really happy."
Li Chenlin’s body instantly went rigid. He fidgeted, tugging at his oversized hoodie.
’Thank goodness the hem of this hoodie is long enough, or she would have seen my improper reaction again.’
Under Bai Su’s teasing gaze, the tips of his ears grew redder and redder.
’We’re so close. She must have smelled the scent of my spiritual power.’
’That mischievous little bunny, daring to tease me!’
Li Chenlin cleared his throat, feigning composure. "Is that all? I... I was hoping for a hug, too..."
Bai Su burst out laughing, leaping up to wrap her arms around his neck and throwing herself into his embrace, holding him tight.
The sweet scent of honey peach instantly mingled with the woody fragrance.
The beast-crest on the back of Li Chenlin’s neck began to spread, and for a moment, his eyes underwent Beastification, turning into snake pupils.
Terrified of scaring Bai Su, he quickly hugged her back, delightedly and carefully savoring this rare moment of her taking the initiative.
’He was actually hugging Bai Su!’
He buried his face in the crook of the little bunny’s neck, greedily and intoxicatingly inhaling her unique scent.
’This is bliss.’
’My heart feels like it’s about to explode.’
Suddenly, with a THWACK, a pomelo smashed into his head.
Li Chenlin was snapped out of it. "...?"
Another pomelo came flying down. This time he was prepared, raising a hand to bat it away.
Bai Su was startled. "What’s wrong?"
Li Chenlin’s face darkened. "It’s nothing. Probably players from another team trying to steal the treasure chests. This just means we’re getting closer to the final treasure deep in the forest."
He glared at two figures, one large and one small, already retreating in the distance.
’If the players weren’t all wearing protective suits and masks, I’d have hunted them down and cut them to pieces.’
However, there weren’t many teams of two consisting of one large and one small person.
’If I get the chance to run into them again, I’ll definitely teach that damn pair of Cat Beastmen a lesson!’
