The color of Rosa Meiya’s face changed again and again. After struggling for what felt like an eternity, she finally managed to squeeze out, "Even if that’s true, you’re still not qualified to be the president of the Female Protection Institution!"
Bai Su laughed. "Oh, I’m not qualified, but you are? You, with your supreme, sacred constitution, born to rule the entire world."
It took Rosa Meiya a moment to even register the sarcasm; she was too busy panicking about her entire plan being thrown into chaos.
She had swaggered in here today for the sole purpose of reporting Bai Su, intending to use an official authority to pressure her, make her bow her head in apology, and restore her dignity as the princess of the Sea Country.
Now what?
Rosa Meiya wanted to die. The very thought that she had come to the Female Protection Institution to report Bai Su, and Bai Su just happened to be its president, was mortifying.
’That bitch Bai Su must be gloating so hard right now!’
Rosa Meiya was trembling with such rage she looked like a pufferfish about to pop.
Bai Su’s smile became even more saccharine. "Weren’t you here to file a complaint?"
"Come now, tell me. Which female from the Snow Country has wronged you? I’ll go get your revenge for you."
Rosa Meiya felt utterly humiliated, as if her face were being ground into the dirt. "You!"
She glared venomously at Bai Su. "You people from the Snow Country are all corrupt! A bunch of cronies protecting each other! You deserve... you deserve..."
She frantically searched her mind for some truly insulting words, but she lacked experience in arguing. After fumbling for a moment, she couldn’t find the right ones.
Bai Su helpfully finished her sentence. "Deserve to have a mighty army and a flourishing culture that leaves you guys leagues behind. I get what you’re trying to say. Thank you for coming all this way just to praise my husband for doing such a good job."
Then, with utter sincerity, she added, "You’re doing great, too!"
Rosa Meiya: "..."
The humiliation intensified.
’I really want to kill someone.’
’If I killed Bai Su right here, could I get away with it?’
Seeing her standing there silently, Bai Su offered a kind reminder. "If you don’t have anyone to file a complaint against, I’ll be leaving."
Rosa Meiya wanted to beat the crap out of her, but then she remembered, to her dismay, that she couldn’t win in a fight against her.
’But I’ve already come all this way...’
She gritted her teeth. "Yes, I want to file a complaint!"
"A complaint against you!"
Bai Su nodded, her eyes crinkling into a smile. "Alright, go ahead. I’ll take down your statement."
Seeing her all-business attitude, Rosa Meiya grew suspicious. "You’ll really register and process it for me?"
Bai Su smiled. "Of course. The Female Protection Institution is a legitimate, official agency."
This emboldened Rosa Meiya. "I want to file a complaint against you! You act without honor! You have slighted your guests from the Sea Country, attempted to provoke a war between our nations, and insulted my people!"
"And you hit me! Assaulting an envoy is an extremely rude act that should be condemned!"
"According to the rules of your Female Protection Institution, shouldn’t you be punished for treating me with such hostility?"
Bai Su nodded. "That is true."
Rosa Meiya, finally a bit satisfied, sat up straighter. "I’m prepared to accept your apology now."
Bai Su looked at her. "Complaint invalid. It’s been rejected."
The smug look on Rosa Meiya’s face didn’t last three seconds. Her expression fell. "On what grounds is it invalid? What’s wrong with any part of my complaint?"
A faint smile touched Bai Su’s lips. "Because it’s a false report. As the president, it’s my duty to reject invalid complaints."
Rosa Meiya’s chest heaved violently. She glared daggers at Bai Su before finally saying through gritted teeth, "I see now. You’re just toying with me!"
Bai Su said, "Of course not, Miss Rosa Meiya. I’m taking my job very seriously."
"Then why did you reject my complaint!" Rosa Meiya demanded.
"It was a false report," Bai Su replied.
