Beast World: From Villainess to Cub-Raising Chef novel Chapter 297

Chapter 297: Chapter 294: Soldiers Get Sick

Wen Xiaobao: "But you’re making Little Bu hurt so much..."

Mrs. Qin: "And I can make him stop hurting."

She stroked the Beast God Crystal Stone and retracted its magnetic field.

In that same instant, Wen Xiaobao spun around and threw himself into Little Bu’s arms.

Little Bu shot off like a rocket, carrying the little rabbit, and vanished into the forest in an instant.

They were so fast that Mrs. Qin couldn’t even tell which direction the two of them had gone.

Mrs. Qin looked slightly stunned, staring blankly in the direction they had disappeared.

Bai Su was squatting in the field, tending to the vegetables.

Yan Qingya stood beside her, saying excitedly, "This is so much food! If we store it all, it’ll be enough to last us for a very long time."

A slight smile touched Bai Su’s lips. "After we harvest this, we’ll plant another batch."

Yan Qingya paused. "We’re planting more? But we already have more than enough food."

Bai Su said, "We have to. Otherwise, when the customers arrive, what will we have to sell them?"

Yan Qingya scratched her head in confusion. "Huh?"

Bai Su dusted the soil from her hands. "Don’t worry about it. Just plant them. They’ll come in handy."

Yan Qingya could only nod in agreement.

She then added, "It’s strange, though. Before, when you had the females work the fields, the results were great. But lately, that hasn’t been the case."

Bai Su asked, "How so?"

Yan Qingya explained, "The latest group of females working the fields has fallen ill. I don’t know if it’s the season, but recently, many Beastmen in the city seem to have weakened immune systems. A whole bunch of them are getting sick with fevers."

Bai Su thought for a moment. "Have you asked Yelias? Is it the flu?"

Yan Qingya replied, "We did. He just said it was low immunity. They haven’t found anything else yet."

Bai Su stared at the fruits and vegetables in the field, noticing that the leaves on many of the seedlings were slightly yellowed.

She asked, "Did these seedlings have this many yellow leaves before?"

Yan Qingya paused. "I didn’t really notice."

Bai Su said, "Go to the Medical Alliance later and find a few virology experts to come take a look. They have more people specializing in viruses over there."

Yan Qingya nodded. "Okay."

Bai Su then went to the Female Protection Institution, where Bai Ruxin was processing documents.

She walked over, glanced at the papers, and asked, "Have the directives been issued?"

Bai Ruxin nodded. "Everything’s been announced, including the number of female restrooms in urban planning and the provision of sanitary pads in various public places. But..."

Bai Ruxin’s face flushed slightly. "Is it really okay for us to put sanitary pads out everywhere in public?"

Bai Su asked, "What’s wrong with it?"

Bai Ruxin didn’t quite understand the younger generation’s way of thinking. After all, she was from a different generation than Bai Su; her views weren’t as progressive, and she couldn’t comprehend why such private items should be displayed in public.

"It just feels... a bit embarrassing."

Bai Su replied, "Everyone gets their period. It’s a well-known fact. There’s nothing to be embarrassed about."

"Who hasn’t had the awkward experience of their period starting unexpectedly while they’re out? Placing sanitary pads in public restrooms and other high-traffic areas will provide convenience for many people."

Bai Ruxin nodded. "I understand the reasoning... But males will inevitably see them, and honestly, many females would be too shy to take a sanitary pad in a crowded public place..."

Bai Su retorted, "So what if males see them? Did they skip health class? Do they not know that females get periods?"

"Or were they born from a rock, without mothers?"

"Aunt Xin, don’t worry. People might not be used to it since the change is new. Once they get accustomed to it and start enjoying the convenience, they’ll see how good it is."

"There’s no shame in having a period. It’s a sign that we’re healthy."

When they arrived at the military headquarters, they found the burned soldiers covered in wounds, their skin dotted with red, burn-like spots.

Lu Tingyan was there, his brows knitted as he listened to a report from Yodel.

Bai Su walked over. "What’s going on?"

Yodel said respectfully, "These are all patrol soldiers. They’re usually responsible for scouting outside the city. For some reason, more and more of them have been showing up with these symptoms lately."

Bai Su walked over and crouched in front of them. The soldiers instinctively flinched away.

Seeing this, she turned to the person behind her who was live-streaming and said, "Go film somewhere else. Don’t include the patients in the shot."

This was the person in charge of running her social media account. Their daily task was to randomly live-stream the current situation in the Imperial City.

Usually, when Bai Su was out and about, the staff member would follow her and stream parts of her daily routine.

Aside from a few idle residents of the Imperial City, the live stream viewers were mostly from Qin City, along with people from various countries and the International Alliance.

[What’s going on? Don’t tell me it’s some kind of infectious disease.]

[See? I told you her streams are fake. She’s just showing off, trying to create this false image that the Imperial City is so prosperous.]

[Only shows the good parts and hides the bad. Is she afraid we’ll see the real problems in the Imperial City?]

[I knew it. A place like that, with that kind of environment... it’s probably crawling with infectious diseases and all sorts of bacteria by now.]

[Yeah, Bai Su, if you’ve got the guts, show everything on stream! Stop hiding things.]

[Weren’t some of you just saying you envied life in the Imperial City? Take a look now! Infectious diseases everywhere. Bet you’re scared now!]

[Exactly! So what if they have food? The Army Chief and his people already looked into it. That ’fresh food’ isn’t sterilized or disinfected. When you just cook it and eat it, you’re swallowing all sorts of parasite eggs and resilient viruses. It’s a wonder they aren’t sick.]

[Plus, when they eat that stuff, they’re digesting all the impurities along with it.]

[So seriously, all you people who are envious of life in the Imperial City, don’t be fooled. Their lives are nowhere near as good as they look on camera.]

[This just proves Bai Su is nothing but an internet celebrity. Trying to use online hype tactics to govern a city... it’s as childish as playing house!]

[Our Miss Qin is still the best. At least she’s a real savior, chosen by the Beast God himself. She has real power and can actually protect us.]
