Beast World: From Villainess to Cub-Raising Chef novel Chapter 306

Chapter 306: Chapter 303: Deciding to Enter the Abyss

Bai Su only called a halt once she reached Level 12, and the other four men had powered up to Level 11 right alongside her.

Nearly every one of them awakened a new Skill.

Bai Su let out a long breath and collapsed bonelessly into Lu Tingyan’s arms, tilting her head back in exhaustion. "Next time, let’s cut it a bit shorter. Cultivating is exhausting."

She could clearly feel a membrane-like barrier inside her body that she just couldn’t break through. Her spiritual power would gather, but no matter how hard she pushed, it was like punching cotton. Her Level simply wouldn’t rise.

’This must be what the system was talking about. I need to go through real-world trials to solidify my foundation before I can break through.’

Seeing her collapse only into Lu Tingyan’s arms, Li Chenlin couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy. "Susu, it’s their fault for being in such a rush. Unlike them, all I would do is worry about you."

As he spoke, he leaned over and kissed Bai Su on the forehead, right over Lu Tingyan’s arms.

Lu Tingyan shoved him aside and pulled Bai Su closer into his embrace. "Susu must be tired. I’ll carry her to bed to rest."

She was gently placed on the bed, and Yelias immediately moved in closer. "No one knows how to take care of someone better than a doctor. Leave the rest to me. All of you can get out."

You could practically hear the gears of his scheme turning.

The other men couldn’t be bothered to call him out on it.

Bai Su rubbed the bridge of her nose. "Lu Tingyan stays. The rest of you, go."

With the air of a victor, Lu Tingyan slowly sat down on the edge of the bed. He looked leisurely at the other three men. "If you would, the door is that way."

Li Chenlin gritted his teeth, but seeing Bai Su’s exhausted expression, he couldn’t bring himself to disturb her. He turned and left the room. "Susu, I’ll be right outside the door! Call me anytime if you need anything!"

Yelias added, "Susu, I’ll go make you a bowl of porridge."

Wen Lan, clearly not yet accustomed to their way of seizing every possible opportunity to vie for favor, silently followed them out.

Only Bai Su and Lu Tingyan were left in the room.

His heart ached for her as he wiped the sweat from her body. He then released his soothing spiritual power, tirelessly working to relax her muscles again and again.

Bai Su yawned and snuggled lazily into his embrace, unmoving.

Suddenly, a scene popped into her head: something was stirring in the depths of the Abyss.

It was followed by a vision of a beast tide erupting, accompanied by a sky full of snow.

The heavy snow blocked the roads, cutting off people’s escape routes.

An avalanche thundered down a mountain, and a sky-blotting wave of snow, like a monstrous tsunami, instantly submerged all the buildings.

Bai Su opened her eyes, a trace of surprise flashing within them.

’Was that a prophetic vision of the second beast tide?’

’So, the second beast tide will break out in winter, when the heavy snows arrive?’

Seeing her frown, Lu Tingyan stopped what he was doing. "What’s wrong? Did I hurt you?"

Bai Su shook her head and told him about the vision she had just foreseen.

She added, "Have you noticed? The toxic miasma in the Abyss is getting worse. Many soldiers feel very unwell when they get close to it."

If that was the case, when the second beast tide erupted, they might not be able to put up a fight.

Lu Tingyan nodded slightly but didn’t speak.

He had actually discovered this long ago and already knew the solution.

But he didn’t plan on telling Bai Su just yet.

Bai Su stared at him, then suddenly leaned in suspiciously. "Are you hiding something from me?"

Lu Tingyan froze for a second, then guiltily averted his gaze. "No..."

Bai Su suddenly rolled over and pinned him underneath her. "Still dare to lie to me?"

Lu Tingyan met her burning gaze and had no choice but to concede helplessly. "I can’t hide anything from you..."

"It’s also related to the toxic miasma."

"Didn’t you give me that Beast Language Skill? I learned from the fierce beasts that deep in the Abyss, they don’t dare approach the Rubies at the bottom. The miasma doesn’t either."

"So I was thinking, maybe those Rubies are the miasma’s nemesis."

Hearing this, Lu Tingyan had no choice but to nod. "Fine. But don’t try to be a hero. If there’s any danger, retreat behind us."

Only then did Bai Su throw herself into his arms. "I know."

Bai Su gave Yan Qingya a new batch of seeds for the females to plant.

Bai Ruxin happened to be there as well, so Bai Su added an instruction, "Please observe the other females in your daily routine. Delegate some of the minor administrative tasks to them, and help me screen for the more capable ones."

Bai Ruxin nodded and asked, "Is there something you want them to do?"

Bai Su said, "I want to select a group of suitable female administrators."

In the former Empire, although females were put on a pedestal and held in high esteem, almost all societal management was handled by males.

Not only were the true needs of females not seen, there was no guarantee they ever would be.

Therefore, at least among the top-level policymakers and those in power, the number of females had to be equal to the number of males.

This current period of chaos was a good opportunity to abandon the old social mechanisms and establish a new social order.

Bai Ruxin nodded. "Okay, I’ll do my best, but you shouldn’t get your hopes up too high..."

The females of today had all grown up in the former male-dominated society.

Many of them never even needed to study or learn how the world works.

They might have awakened a consciousness of female independence under Bai Su’s leadership, but it was also a fact that their minds were empty. Selecting suitable administrators from among them would be incredibly difficult.

Bai Su nodded. "It’s alright. We’ll take it slow. You can also mentor them during your daily administrative work."

Bai Ruxin nodded.

After taking care of these minor affairs, Bai Su packed up with the four men and descended into the Abyss.

The entire Imperial City was left in the care of Bai Xiaolang.
