Bai Su heaved until there was nothing left but bile. She weakly flushed the toilet and, upon leaving the bathroom, leaned listlessly against the doorframe.
Li Chenlin met her gaze, his worried expression instantly turning cold and aloof.
Bai Su stared at him, her face dark. "Li Chenlin."
Li Chenlin grudgingly lowered his proud head, glancing at her. "What is it?"
Bai Su said, "The next time you dare kiss me with that mouth that has eaten a Beastman, I will kill you."
"Pfft..." Outside, some maid couldn’t hold it in and let out a chuckle.
Li Chenlin shot a death glare in that direction, and the outside fell instantly silent.
He turned back to Bai Su, his face blacker than the bottom of a pot. "It’s been all afternoon. Is that all you have to say to me?"
Bai Su completely ignored him, lying back down on the bed with the exhausted look of someone who had been put through the wringer.
Li Chenlin’s newly recovered pride was once again shattered for all to see.
He felt that he had been scorned by Bai Su in front of everyone.
’This damned little female. I will make her fall completely and utterly in love with me!’
Li Chenlin suppressed his anger, sat back down at the nearby desk, and pretended he hadn’t heard Bai Su’s words as he resumed his work.
His assistant bowed his head and respectfully exited the room.
Bai Su couldn’t stand the stares any longer. She yanked the covers over her head. Out of sight, out of mind.
She was bored to the point of drowsiness and had no time for Li Chenlin’s childish peacocking.
Li Chenlin glowered at the small lump under the covers. The thought that all his elaborate efforts hadn’t even earned him a kind look—and had instead gotten him scorned—made his anger flare, and he slammed the file onto the desk.
But Bai Su was determined to defy him.
No matter how Li Chenlin tried to talk to her, she pretended to be deaf and mute, neither listening nor looking.
She smashed all the food brought to her, eating only what she redeemed from her own ’store’.
Furious, Li Chenlin smashed a roomful of expensive antique porcelain in his study. "Useless! All of you are useless!"
A servant holding the rejected food knelt trembling on the floor, not daring to lift their head.
Li Chenlin’s rage was uncontrollable. He opened his gaping, bloody maw and devoured the kneeling servant in one bite. Still not satisfied, he tore several subordinates passing by on patrol to shreds and threw their remains into the sea.
Everyone on the ship was so terrified they didn’t even dare to scream, fearing the slightest sound would attract the demon’s attention.
Even his assistant of many years couldn’t help but tense up, the hair on the back of his neck standing on end.
He had never seen President Li this furious, not even when he was exiled from the Southern Country Royal Family...
Li Chenlin’s aura grew darker by the day. Eventually, the entire ship was blanketed by his freezing presence. The number of maids also dwindled day by day, eaten by him whenever he vented his anger.
Panic spread through the ship. Finally, someone couldn’t take it anymore and snuck over to find Bai Su while Li Chenlin was on deck getting some air.
Bai Su was in her room reading a book, calmly prepared to wait out Li Chenlin until the end of time.
A maid knocked and entered, immediately dropping to her knees with a THUD before Bai Su. "Miss Bai, please, save us!"
Bai Su was stunned for a moment, then quickly moved to help her up. "What are you doing?"
The maid shook her head, crying. "Miss Bai, if you don’t save us, we won’t get up."
Bai Su looked at her with concern. "Just tell me what’s wrong first. How am I supposed to know what’s happened if you don’t say anything? This is so strange..."
