Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 343

Those dark eyes were as deep as a shadowed pool, burying countless emotions completely out of sight.

Celeste paled and answered instinctively, "You must have seen it wrong. It was just a standard suture.

The Carlyle family has practiced medicine for generations, and I had already started learning from my dad back then. My technique was naturally better than most, so it's normal that you didn't recognize it."

"Oh my god, are you sure that's considered good technique?" Sienna covered her mouth and chuckled.

"Jarred still doesn't dare wear sleeveless shirts. With that crooked, messy stitching, I thought a toddler had sewn him up."

Celeste's pupils shrank, her eyes darting nervously toward Jarred.

She had never even seen his bare back! How would she know what the stitches looked like?

Having relied entirely on fabricating the rescue story, being interrogated on the details face-to-face made her freeze instantly.

Celeste braced herself and forced an argument. "Who can remember such trivial details from years ago?

Saving a life takes everything you have; who memorizes suture patterns afterward? You're just looking for trouble!"

Watching Celeste flail was incredibly satisfying for Sienna.

She was only thirteen back then. Although she had the fundamentals, her hands were still clumsy.

That was the exact reason Jarred still bore a long scar on his back to this day.

"You don't remember the suturing technique, but you sure remember how to use that favor for moral blackmail. What's more important to you: Jarred's life, or using it to excuse your own crimes?" Sienna mocked.

"You!"

Hit right in her weak spot, Celeste stumbled over her words and cast a desperate, pleading look at Jarred.

"Jarred, say something... Everyone saw me carry you back from Azure Ridge! That's a fact!"

As soon as Celeste finished speaking, her tears began to fall.

She curled up, hugging herself tightly, her thin frame trembling continuously with her sobs.

Her normally bright eyes were now dim, filled only with a desolate sorrow that soaked her entire demeanor.
