Jarred's dark eyes turned icy. "Speak clearly."
"Celeste was arrested! They're accusing her of framing a public official!" Gideon's voice was shaking, clearly a mix of rage and panic.
"They caught the guy who falsely reported Luna, and he pointed the finger straight at Celeste as the mastermind.
The higher-ups have already sent a special investigator. If convicted, it's a felony!
Are these people psychotic? Since her legs were injured, she barely leaves the house. How could she harm anyone?
These people won't rest until they ruin her! She's such an innocent, kind girl!"
A thin layer of ice formed in Jarred's eyes.
"All the evidence is stacked against her."
Gideon's voice dropped. "The informant gave crazy details—when he met Celeste, where they met, how much money she gave him, whose accounts were used, even the transfer receipts.
Jarred, someone set her up perfectly."
Jarred said nothing.
A subtle hint of blame crept into Gideon's voice.
"Speaking of which, everyone started trying to reach you the second you boarded. You had a night mission, which meant you had a massive block of free time.
We thought you'd be able to answer at any moment, but dozens of calls and texts vanished into thin air. What the hell happened on your end?"
Jarred pulled the phone away from his ear and checked his call log.
The earliest missed calls and texts perfectly aligned with the exact moment he boarded and handed his private phone to Sienna.
Jarred looked up from the screen, his gaze landing on the chair a few steps away.
Sienna's bag was still sitting right there.
He remembered handing the phone directly to her when they boarded.
She had taken it and slipped it into her pocket.
But right now, the phone was on silent, blocking every single notification until this very moment.
