Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 354

Celeste was transferred to a VIP suite.

Between the IV drips, wound debridement, and aggressive antibiotics, the sky had already grown dark.

After going through several IV bags, Celeste finally started to regain consciousness.

"Jarred?" She frantically scanned the room, her voice still hoarse. "Are you there?"

The man standing by the window heard her and immediately walked over.

The moment she saw him, fresh tears spilled down her cheeks.

She struggled to sit up, but Jarred quickly pinned her shoulders back against the bed.

"Don't move. Your legs..."

Before he could finish, Celeste caught sight of her heavily casted legs.

"My legs... what's wrong with them?"

She stared up at Jarred, pure terror and confusion in her eyes. "Jarred, why can't I feel anything? Why won't they move?"

Jarred parted his lips, but the words wouldn't come.

Watching his pained expression, something inside Celeste completely snapped.

She lost her mind, furiously pounding on her cast as she screamed, "Tell me! What happened to my legs?

Are they ruined? Is it just like Sienna promised...

Will I never walk again? Did Sienna really cripple me?"

Celeste gripped the bedsheets with a white-knuckled intensity. The usual helpless tears in her eyes were replaced by a venomous, hateful glare.

She couldn't swallow this bitter pill.

Plunging from the clouds into the mud and winding up permanently disabled—it was all Sienna's doing.

Why did it have to be like this?

Why did that woman get to sit securely on her throne as Jarred's wife, easily destroying the very foundations Celeste had spent years building?

A suffocating wave of resentment and injustice tore at her chest, the throbbing in her legs a constant reminder of her pathetic state.

She wanted to scream and cry until her lungs gave out.
