"Sienna, you're shaking." His voice was incredibly low, like a sleepwalker's murmur.
He raised a hand, his fingers brushing against her hair.
So soft, like a feather's touch.
Sienna froze entirely.
"You're afraid of me," Maloney said.
His voice held confusion, grievance, and a kind of vulnerability she had never seen in him.
He leaned forward slightly, like a mountain slowly toppling over.
His fingers slid from her hair to her cheek.
His touch was warm, slightly calloused.
Sienna shifted a step sideways. "I'm not afraid of you, but you aren't in your right mind right now."
"I'm very lucid."
Maloney pressed closer.
Holding his burning forehead, he stumbled toward her.
His hot breath cascaded against her neck, carrying an overwhelming sense of dominance.
Sienna's heart raced; she had no time to think.
She yelled toward the door, "Help... Somebody help!"
Yet, for some reason, there wasn't a single person around today.
Not even the other patrons were wandering in this direction.
"Sienna..." Maloney's voice was hoarse and deep, laced with heavy temptation. His eyes held only primal hunger. "Don't move..."
In the cramped corner of the room, no one answered, and no one came to her rescue.
Sienna shoved her hands against his chest, resisting with all her might as she backed away, her expression tense and cold.
"Maloney, snap out of it!"
The drug was potent; a man stripped of his senses couldn't hear reason.
Maloney had completely lost control.
His rationality was swallowed by the burning heat and confusion. His usual gentlemanly restraint was gone.
He leaned in, his searing breath brushing past her ear.
In the chaos, his warm lips suddenly brushed against her cheek.
