Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 422

Jarred strode over slowly, his black tailored suit accentuating his tall, lean physique.

His deep, sharp eyes carried an oppressive aura that warned strangers to keep their distance.

He had clearly been handling business in his study; his shirt sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, and the top two buttons were undone, revealing a sharply defined collarbone.

Daisy instantly wiped the tears from her face, ignoring her messy state, and lunged forward.

She clamped tightly onto Jarred's arm, leaning her entire body weight against him.

Resting her head on his shoulder, she cried with even more aggrieved sobs.

"Jarred, I'm so sorry... This is all my fault, please don't blame Ms. Sloan."

She seemed to be taking the blame, acting submissive and remorseful with every word.

Yet, every single syllable was an accusation highlighting her own victimhood.

"I just didn't have anything to wear at the moment, so I listened to you and picked out one of Ms. Sloan's unused nightgowns.

I explicitly told her I would wash it and return it, but Ms. Sloan seems so incredibly angry...

Not only does she refuse to forgive me, but she also wants to call the cops and say I stole it. I really don't know what to do..."

Sienna watched this pathetic display with cold detachment, a nonchalant smirk playing on her lips.

If this were a soap opera, these tactics would at least earn her a nomination for best supporting actress.

Of course, compared to Celeste Carlyle, she was still miles behind.

That woman was a true method actor, oozing drama from every pore, turning manipulation into a literal performance art.

Daisy was just a rookie; she had a little natural talent, but her execution lacked finesse.

Jarred cast his eyes downward at the girl trembling in his arms, the impatience in his gaze growing heavy.

He looked up at Sienna's aloof figure standing opposite them, his tone laced with blatant accusation.

"You never even wear these clothes, and you literally have hundreds, if not thousands, of pieces like this. What's the big deal if she borrows one?

It's not like she wasn't going to return it. If she washes it and gives it back, isn't that enough? Do you really need to make such a massive scene?"
