Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 428

Just as Sienna raised her hand, about to signal the driver to pull away.

A pair of headlights pierced the twilight, coming to a dead stop right in front of her car.

It was Jarred's car.

The black luxury vehicle cut its lights, the darkness of the evening amplifying its cold, intimidating presence.

Within seconds, the door swung open, a long leg stepped out, and the man's tall, commanding figure appeared in front of her hood.

Dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit, Jarred had shed his usual cynical, playboy aura, his features radiating an icy, untouchable nobility.

Whether he had just finished work or rushed back from somewhere else, exhaustion was etched into every line of his body.

He leaned down and knocked on the window, his breathing slightly ragged, his voice dropping low. "Today isn't a treatment day for the old man. Why are you here?"

Sienna ignored his bait, rolling down the window to reveal her flawless face.

Jarred arched an eyebrow the moment he saw her in that striking, vibrant red.

His gaze slid slowly across her face, as if inspecting something highly amusing, before finally settling on the tight line of her lips.

"Clearly not here for a happy occasion," he noted.

There was a hint of mock regret in his tone, but his striking eyes were undeniably swimming with amusement.

Sienna looked up at him, entirely bypassing the small talk. "Did you know about Celeste?"

Jarred's expression didn't shift.

Instead, he reached out, pulled open the rear door, and slid his massive frame onto the seat right beside her, frowning slightly as he looked her over.

"Which part?" he asked.

Jarred's dark, fathomless pupils locked onto her, his gaze lingering, making it utterly impossible to read his true emotions.

A faint, calculated smile tugged at the corner of Sienna's mouth, laced with deliberate testing. "The whole city is buzzing with rumors that you're heartbroken, running yourself ragged all night for her.

Yet your mother and grandmother were the ones who personally handled the cremation, weren't they?
