"We followed the money trail to a core middleman, but it was as if this person had a sixth sense for danger. The moment our clues reached the top, they suddenly went dark and vanished without a trace."
Quincy fell silent for a second, his voice tinged with obvious hesitation. "Ms. Sloan, I feel like someone is watching us from the shadows. Every time we're about to hit a critical breakthrough, someone always beats us to it."
"The information Maloney gave us wouldn't be wrong. The mastermind must be this person," Sienna said.
"If they were easy to deal with, Celeste wouldn't still be running around causing trouble right now. If it really doesn't work out, just come back first. The evidence we have on hand is already enough to prove that Celeste is still alive!"
Quincy suddenly spoke up, "Understood, Ms. Sloan, but there's one more thing..."
Before Quincy could finish his sentence, the call abruptly disconnected.
Sienna listened to the busy tone on the other end, taking two seconds to process what had happened.
"Quincy!"
Sienna dialed back, but his phone was turned off.
She redialed a few more times, all yielding the same result.
Sienna took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down.
Quincy had followed the old man for decades and had never made a mistake.
Now that he had lost contact, there were only two possibilities: either he was being controlled by someone, or something worse had happened.
Alister had also overheard the conversation and frowned as he comforted Sienna, "Ms. Sloan, we're almost at Silas's hometown. Quincy has a wealth of combat experience. He can handle it; you don't need to worry."
Right. Sienna immediately regained her composure.
If someone was truly watching her from the shadows, she couldn't afford to lose her cool at a time like this.
Just as she was thinking this, the moving SUV suddenly lost control due to a blown tire.
Her subordinate gripped the steering wheel tightly, doing his utmost to minimize the danger.
But the people in the car were still thrown forcefully.
The man driving yelled coldly, "This blowout isn't right! It feels like the tire was slashed by something sharp!"
As soon as he spoke, Sienna's head slammed heavily against the back of the front seat before rebounding.
