Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 482

Before Sienna could finish her sentence, the office door was pushed open.

Her fingers paused for a fraction of a second before she looked up.

Jarred stood in the doorway, his black suit jacket unbuttoned to reveal a white shirt with the top two buttons undone.

He didn't look like a man who had just walked out of the precinct.

He looked more like he had just gracefully departed from a high-society dinner party.

Sienna quietly hung up the phone, placed it face down on the desk, sat up straight, and tilted her head to look at him.

"What brings Captain Sterling here?"

Jarred didn't answer immediately.

He walked in, stopped on the opposite side of the desk, and lowered his gaze.

His eyes fell on her face, studying her as if she were a puzzle he suddenly couldn't decipher.

"Declan Ward just sent me a post," he said, his tone light, even carrying a hint of casual indifference.

Sienna raised an eyebrow, her expression remaining perfectly natural. "What post?"

"A grand drama of a mistress picking a fight with the lawful wife."

Sienna raised her brows even higher, nodding in feigned understanding and even giving a slight shrug. "Was it entertaining?"

The air in the room froze for a second.

Jarred leaned in slightly, closing the distance between them.

His warm breath brushed past her ear as he lowered his voice, lacing it with a lazy sense of danger.

"Darling, do you hate me so much now that you want to completely ruin me?"

"It hasn't quite reached that point." Sienna offered a faint smile, but a second later, the relaxed amusement vanished, replaced by a clear, icy detachment. "Not if you agree to a clean divorce."

Jarred straightened up, his dark, predatory gaze locking onto her eyes as a chilling smile curved his lips.

Though he phrased it as a question, his tone was filled with icy certainty, having already seen right through her intentions.

"Oh, so just because I told you a few times that I wouldn't agree to a divorce, you set this whole trap?"

He paused, the coldness in his eyes practically overflowing. "Darling, I never realized you had such a vindictive streak."
