Betrayed by the Father Reborn in His Rival's Arms novel Chapter 51

Why would he care what happened to the child?

She fell asleep in the cab on the way home, only waking up after the driver called out to her several times.

After just half an hour of rest, she dragged herself out of bed to head to the office. She still had work to do.

As soon as she walked into the main workspace at Photon Tech, she spotted Lyra Lawrence sitting aggressively in her chair.

"Lyra, is there something you need?" Madeline asked instinctively.

Lyra scoffed. "You actually have the nerve to show your face?"

A sharp pang hit Madeline's chest. She had thrown herself into her work, fast-tracking several notoriously difficult projects and securing substantial profits for the company.

Why wouldn't she have the nerve to come in?

If anything, Lyra was the one who lacked professionalism. Ever since Madeline joined, the assistant had gone out of her way to target her—deliberately messing up her name, playing petty tricks, and constantly whispering behind her back that she was trying to seduce Silas.

Madeline had brushed off the microaggressions, refusing to stoop to her level.

On principle, however, she knew that kind of petty jealousy had no place in a professional environment.

Madeline had once tried to hint to Silas that his assistant harbored ulterior motives toward him.

But Silas had simply explained that Lyra was the daughter of a minor shareholder—a nepotism hire.

His hands were tied.

So, Madeline had continued to bite her tongue.
