"Can you stop staring already?" Selene asked, resting her head on his chest. "I don’t look any different to when you last saw me."
Selene couldn’t explain how she felt now. She had simply confessed but something about it made her too shy to look at him.
Selene glanced at his hand once more. It concerned her that his hand was not yet healed despite how long he was in the room. "Did you hold something blessed?"
"I did but that doesn’t matter. Tell me exactly what you feel for me," Xavier said, more interested in her feelings.
Selene faced him again after she composed herself. "I am fond of you and enjoy how you care for me. I hope I am not expected to tell you this every day. If it is possible, my actions will show it. I will not say it is love yet but when it is, I will confess to that too. For now, I am open to much more growing between us."
Xavier’s hands settled on her waist, bringing her closer to his body. "What happened today for you to tell me?"
"Well, I saw you care for me in ways no one else has since my parents died. You have listened to me, never judging what I do or say. It is all I have asked for and for that, I care for you in more ways than I can explain. So, we shall see where this takes us. I am quite happy you did not go into a deep slumber," Selene said.
She would have missed this happiness if he did.
Xavier shared the same feeling since he would have missed these moments had he not accepted her invitation.
Selene wrapped her hand around Xavier’s waist so it would not only be him holding her. "It is strange you haven’t kissed me."
"I intend to but first I have to ask," Xavier stopped to lean closer to her ear. "When are you planning to seduce with what is inside those boxes?"
Selene’s eyes widened. She tried to step away from him but his hold on her was too strong. "Where did you find them?"
"Under the bed. Don’t break my heart by saying you never planned on using them. That would ruin how I feel now," Xavier said, lowering his head to kiss her cheek and then moving down to her exposed neck.
Selene covered her face. She should have dealt with hiding them first. It was her mistake for telling Agnes to take them to her room but not saying which one. "They were a gift from Francesca which I felt we were not ready for."
"We are not?" Xavier replied. This was news to him. "I haven’t seen you in them but I am already quite excited. Let me show you," he said, slipping his hands under his buttocks to lift her.
Selene held onto Xavier once more as he carried her to the bed. She tried to keep her eyes on his face and not on his exposed chest which she believed was calling out to her. Was it possible for him to be more handsome after she confessed?
Selene knew she could do as she liked since Xavier said it but she wasn’t that bold yet. For now, she was satisfied with his lips on her own and the kiss she expected when she confessed to him.
Selene nodded her head, surprising herself and partly Xavier. Strangely, it didn’t feel like they were moving too fast. Xavier wasn’t the only one with a need to be closer and after all that Francesca showed her today, Selene couldn’t get touching him out of her mind.
As of late, Selene battled with not having intimacy on her mind. It was like Xavier opened a door which desperately needed to be closed.
Selene sat up when Xavier moved from above her to find servants to bring water in for them. She wanted it to stay like this with them not disturbed by anyone. The day was far from over and unlike other days, Selene wanted to have Xavier by her side for all of it.
Now was not the time for anyone to come with any urgent messages.
While Xavier was gone, Selene took it upon herself to move the boxes from under the bed and place them with her dresses. Xavier wouldn’t have any reason to go there and when he was asleep, she would place the boxes in her private room so they would not be seen until she wanted them to.
Selene questioned her answer to Francesca that these dresses were not needed. She didn’t know how much Xavier saw but he was certainly interested in them. Rather than have plans not to ever use them, Selene decided they would be kept for a time she wanted to surprise him. freewebnσvel.cѳm
For now, they needed to remain hidden because as she said, they were not ready for it.
Selene made sure they were better hidden this time and then returned to the bed just as Xavier walked in. Since she told him of her feelings, Xavier had been grinning like a fool. She could not tease him about it since she in turn smiled with him.
