Betrayed By The Hero, Loved By The Lord novel Chapter 195

Chapter 195: Stranger in my bed (3)

Lucas knew he had to step in before the two women started to fight each other. While he was certain Selene could handle herself, Xavier had placed guards around Selene for a reason.

’He might take my head if I let them fight,’ Lucas thought.

Lucas went and placed himself between Selene and Morgana just before Selene could respond to what Morgana wanted.

Morganna laughed at the guard having to step in. "So, she can’t do anything just like I thought."

"No, she can do as she likes to you as Lady Blackthorn, but she doesn’t need to carry you out of here. I will do it," Lucas said, grabbing Morgana’s arm.

He would worry about the palace coming after him later but right now, Lucas was more concerned about Xavier’s anger when he returned home.

"I will see the princess off," Lucas informed Selene. "It is best you remain here."

Morgana tried to pull her hand out of Lucas’s hold. "Let go of me! Do you want the king to come after you? I am royalty."

"Yea, yea. I’ve heard that before," Lucas muttered as she started to pull Morgana out of the room.

Morgana refused to leave since she might not get this chance again. "Xavier is going to fall back into my hands. You have no idea what is coming your way. If you are smart, you should leave while you can."

Morgana wasn’t ready to give up her chance with Xavier and she certainly wouldn’t give it up to Selene.

Of all the women in the kingdom, why did Xavier pick Selene when a princess wanted him?

If it had anything to do with Darius then Morgana was more than willing to get rid of her brother. Even Vivienne since she was still in love with Xavier.

Selene didn’t have more to say to Morgana since it was all useless. These conversations about her not being fit as Xavier’s wife were all the same and nothing she said now would make the princess move on.

Selene watched as Lucas had to go so far as to hoist the princess up over his shoulder to get her to leave the room. She knew this wouldn’t be the last time she saw Morgana but at least she would be out of the estate for now.

Selene rubbed her temple, trying to calm down. "The palace can’t get upset with us for this. Not now."

Selene still wondered how the princess was able to get so far into the estate with her being the one to find Morgana. It could be the princess had some hidden talent but Selene didn’t like it.

First the queen and now the princess. Who would be next?

Selene didn’t have time for this and it upset her that she came very close to grabbing the princess and dragging her out of the room.

Selene needed to thank Lucas for stepping in the moment she started to raise her hand. She didn’t want Xavier to return home to it surrounded by palace guards.

Selene’s attention soon turned to the bed. The memory of Morgana lying on it repeated in her head. For the moment, Selene had to be anywhere but here.

She turned around to leave the room heading toward the first floor to see that Lucas succeeded in sending the princess and her guards off.

Baking seemed to be the one thing to clear her mind.

’Baking?’ Agnes thought. Selene was to be done with the baking for the day and so she had to start preparing for the special moment she planned for Lord Blackthorn.

Agnes shared a look with Harold. Was Selene no longer planning to eat outside with Xavier anymore?

Agnes didn’t know how she would do it but she needed to get Selene to continue with her plans. It was right to let the princess spoil the night.

Agnes followed Selene with a plan in mind for her to convince Selene.

Meanwhile, Harold remained at the front door to keep an eye on the cleanup as well as send word of this to Xavier.

Harold headed outside to question the guards on how the princess made it inside. Morgana was never a welcomed guest and hearing that she had come face to face with Selene was going to upset Xavier.

Harold hoped Selene was still planning her special dinner since they needed the distraction to calm Xavier down so he wouldn’t head to the palace.

"She needs a Blackthorn elder on her side to end this," Harold said, knowing it was the only way.

Someone with influence in the Blackthorns needed to accept Selene for the others to stop questioning the marriage. The one person Harold could think of as being helpful was Orlork.

’I must write to his butler.’
