"This room is far bigger than the one they assigned to me," Juliana said, jealous of how spoiled Natalie had become. "You even have a better view, and the king’s room isn’t too far from here."

"I am carrying his child, so what do you expect? Unless you are to have his child, we will not be treated the same. I will allow you to enjoy the view for now," said Natalie.

Juliana bit her tongue to not say what was on her mind.

"Have you seen Vivienne around the palace? She has become quite silent since I arrived, which means she is plotting something. I need you to be my eyes and ears since I cannot leave this room. If her father shows up, come to me," Natalie ordered Juliana.

"Plotting?" Juliana laughed. "She is out of sight since she is embarrassed."

Natalie grew annoyed with Juliana. "We may not have been good friends, but we’ve been around Vivienne to know how she will be. She will not ignore this and let us live comfortably here. She is plotting, and she has started by announcing she can take men by her side."

"She was serious?" Juliana replied, appalled by Vivienne’s decision. "The king will not stand for this. He will do everything he can to stop it, and if she doesn’t back down, it will ruin their marriage."

Juliana clutched her stomach as she laughed. "This is too good. She was walking around with her head up high, all for this to happen. There is much for us to enjoy."

"I wouldn’t enjoy myself if I were you. They argue, but they also manage to stay married. She has not lost yet," said Natalie.

Unlike Juliana, Natalie knew how much Darius loved Vivienne. She didn’t believe Darius’s threat that he would punish Vivienne if she harmed their unborn child.

Vivienne punished many women during her time married to Darius, and he had allowed her to get away with it.

Natalie worried about Vivienne announcing she was also pregnant before her child was here. Darius could lose interest in the child he shared with Natalie and celebrate the one he would have with Vivienne.

Juliana didn’t see it the same way as Natalie did. "I think she is behaving this way now because she knows she has lost. Vivienne forces herself to sleep with Darius, and she doesn’t want to have another child with him."

Juliana thought it was more likely for Vivienne to share a child with another man than for her to have another with Darius.

"Wouldn’t it be entertaining if she were to run to Xavier? Darius would be done with her then, right?" Juliana asked.

"If Darius believes Xavier has the faintest interest in Vivienne, he will not let her leave his side. Why do you think he took an interest in her in the first place? Or why is he so adamant about having Selene? Darius likes to have Xavier’s things," said Natalie.

"I will do no such thing. I don’t speak of Vivienne to Darius unless he mentions her since it is not my place. You need to leave this room and keep an eye on Vivienne. The men and women eyeing the throne are here, so keep an eye on them as well," Natalie ordered Juliana.

"Why does it have to be me?" Juliana asked, offended that Natalie would be giving her the work of a maid. "Call your maids inside and give them the task of watching Vivienne."

Natalie was quite close to sending Juliana out of the palace. "You fool. I haven’t been here long compared to Vivienne, so most of them will report to Vivienne."

Natalie wanted to create a special relationship with the maids who lost friends or family thanks to Vivienne’s killing spree, but she was placed in the room and could not leave unless she got Darius’s permission.

"I have maids under my care-"

"Maids that were placed at your side when Vivienne welcomed you inside the palace. Had you spoken carelessly around them? Did you honestly trust that she was not spying on you when she was letting you have her husband? You are a fool if you did believe they were loyal," Natalie said, frustrated she only had Juliana to use.

"Well, what about you? You are speaking to me about this when your maids stand at the door. They can hear this talk," Juliana said, pointing out Natalie’s mistake.

Natalie opened her hand to reveal a red stone. "It is the first thing I bought before coming here. We are not the same, Juliana."
