My consciousness surfaced through a thick fog. I was lying on a hotel bed, my limbs leaden. The room was empty besides me.
No time to think. With trembling hands, I dialed the number I knew by heart from muscle memory.
As the phone rang, I used every ounce of strength to push myself up, trying to get off the bed. The door swung open.
Theodore swaggered in. Seeing me awake, he looked vaguely impressed.
“A doctor, through and through. Waking up after just ten minutes from that heavy a sedative?”
I knew my needle had helped, but the dose was still overwhelming. I had no strength left to run.
Whoever did this wasn’t taking any chances.
I hid my hands under the blanket, staring at him defensively.
“Theodore! What do you want?!”
“What do I want?” He raised an eyebrow, smirking as he moved closer. “Isn’t it obvious?”
My eyes burned. “Theodore! You’re insane!”
“If I’d known your voice would be this soft and sweet when you’re drugged, I wouldn’t have waited all these years.”
He leaned down, inhaling the scent of my hair. It seemed to excite him.
“Why does even your hair smell so good?”
“Gavin and Zane are still downstairs!”
I fought to keep my body from trembling, my voice stern.
But Theodore had fully embraced his vileness.
“So what? The hotel elevators broke down three minutes ago. This is the twenty–first floor.”
Third–person POV
The auction had ended. As the organizers chatted with Gavin, his phone vibrated.
Seeing the caller ID, he frowned slightly. Before he could answer, the call disconnected.
His expression darkened instantly. He turned and strode away without a word. When he called back, Her phone was off.
“Sir? What is it?” Neil, sharp as ever, was immediately at his side.
Gavin’s face was a thundercloud. “Did you see her?”
Neil knew instantly who he meant. “About ten minutes ago, sir. Miss headed toward the elevators. I assumed she left.”
“But…” Neil hesitated.
“Speak!” Gavin’s voice was a whip–crack.
“Miss seemed…. strange. In a hurry. Like something was wrong.” The more Neil thought about it, the more certain he felt.

Chapter 107
Zane walked out with Amelia in tow. “What’s going on?”
Gavin’s gaze sliced into him. “Has Elara contacted you?”
Beside them, Amelia’s heart seized.
She had accounted for everything–except Gavin showing up tonight.
She’d heard the stories of his ruthlessness. She used all her strength to appear calm, to not give anything away.
Then, a thought struck her, and a cold sneer formed inside.
So what if they realized Elara was missing? By the time they found her, it would be too late. She was ruined.
Zane checked his phone. “No.”
Gavin’s expression was pure ice. “Lock down the entire hotel. Pull all security footage. Take men and search every floor. Now!”
