Betrayed? I Upgraded to His Billionaire Brother novel Chapter 121

Chapter 121

Gavin glanced over at Eleanor with a curious look. “What’s going on?” he asked, stepping into the living room where the scent of rich, homemade dishes filled the air.

He cast a quick glance toward the dining area, eyebrows rising in surprise. “Why did you prepare so many dishes? Feeling generous or something?” Usually, Eleanor wasn’t one to indulge in extravagance. Despite her wealth, meals were typically modest and practical.

When it came to Gavin, things were even simpler—often just a single bowl of pasta was enough to satisfy him.

Eleanor’s expression turned serious as she replied, “Not for you. This is for that girl.”

Her tone carried a weight that made Gavin pause. “You need to be on your best behavior today. No scowling, no grumbling, got it?”

She had always been concerned about Gavin’s marriage prospects, though it seemed no one else shared her worry. The Windsor family, if anything, probably hoped he was content and happy just as he was.

Gavin frowned slightly. “Which girl are you talking about?”

Eleanor gave a knowing smile. “What other girl could it be? The doctor who’s been treating me. I invited her over for lunch. And you better not look so serious around her.”

Gavin’s voice was skeptical. “If this is some kind of date, why didn’t you tell me beforehand?”

Eleanor waved off the idea. “You’re overthinking it. I just want her to meet you. If she ends up liking you, well, that’s your lucky break.”

Gavin raised a single eyebrow in response.

Neil, standing nearby, couldn’t help but twitch his mouth in amusement. Was there some kind of mind-control ingredient in the medicine this doctor prescribed for Eleanor?

Suddenly, a thought struck Gavin. “You mentioned last time that she’s getting divorced, right?”

His mind jumped to Elara and Zane’s recent separation. Elara was a doctor, too. Could this be the same woman?

Eleanor was busy bustling in the kitchen but answered without looking up. “Yes, I asked her a few days ago. She’s already got her divorce certificate.”

A faint smile tugged at the corners of Gavin’s mouth, but it quickly faded.

“Her ex-husband deserved it, too. I heard he even has an illegitimate child,” Eleanor added.

I smiled and rolled down my window. “Grandma, you didn’t have to wait out here in the cold! I could have found the place on my own. Come on, get in.”

“Alright, alright,” she said with a warm smile as she slid into the passenger seat. “It’s your first time here. I was worried you might get lost. Next time, you can just come straight upstairs.”

“Take the next right; there’s parking there,” she instructed.

Following her directions, I gently pressed the accelerator. “Be careful when you get out,” I warned softly. “The pavement might be icy.”

Falls are no joke, especially for someone her age.

“Okay, dear,” she nodded.

As we stepped out of the car, Eleanor’s excitement was palpable. She linked her arm through mine, guiding me toward the front door.

“My grandson has been waiting for you for quite some time now,” she said with a smile that held a hint of anticipation.
