After hearing this, the others stopped objecting.

My capabilities since joining the project team were, after all, obvious to everyone.

But someone in my own team was still kicking up a fuss.

Sullivan smirked. “Team Lead Windsor is truly… profound. Instead of reflecting on your own work or running the experiment again when the data is off, your first move is to suspect foul play.”

Seeing I wasn’t rushing to defend myself, he continued fanning the flames.

“If we check the cameras and find a mole, great. But if we don’t, people in other departments will look at us differently. They’ll probably see every one of us as a potential R&D mole.”

I put down the falsified report, my voice steady. “I know my own plan. The footage will show the truth.”

Leopold quickly chimed in, obsequiously.

“Yeah, don’t you all know who Team Lead Windsor is? She and Elias are both students of the renowned medical expert, Mr. Colton. If she says something’s wrong, it must be.”

He acted completely supportive of the investigation.

I couldn’t help but frown. Then Sullivan naturally picked up the thread again.

“And if we don’t find a mole, does that mean the data is fine, and the real problem is Team Lead Windsor’s competence? After all this trouble, making us all suspects, how will you take responsibility, Team Lead Windsor?”

But I didn’t argue. Instead, I smiled slightly. “Then you tell me, if we do find the mole, how should they be dealt with?”

Sullivan’s expression flickered briefly.

Then, for reasons of his own, he stated righteously and indignantly, “Naturally, follow the company’s disciplinary procedures! And they should be banned from ever working in pharmaceutical R&D again!”

Hearing this, I raised a brow and looked at Leopold. “You agree, right?”

Leopold: “Of course I agree! Rooting out a mole is a good thing for everyone!”

It wasn’t like he’d done it.

Besides, Elara wouldn’t be able to access the footage anyway. She’d just have to step down as team lead.

The thought made him look at me again. “And if we find nothing? How will you make it up to everyone, Team Lead Windsor?”

“I’ll vacate the team lead position.” My voice was calm. “Let whoever is most capable take it.”

“In that case, let’s have Security hurry up.” Elias spoke as if everything was normal. “It’s getting late. Everyone has work to do this afternoon.“.

After years of working together, he understood my usual approach. I wouldn’t act recklessly without being sure of my ground.

And as always, he trusted and supported me unconditionally.

Neil waited two minutes outside the study door, only stepping in after the sounds of the meeting inside hit a pause.

Gavin’s blue eyes shifted toward him just as Neil reported, “Boss, the vice director of the Group’s R&D division called. There’s an issue involving the young lady.”

Neil moved closer, laying out everything that had happened in R&D in a few concise sentences. “Do you want to head over?”

Those middle–aged men in R&D were a tough crowd.

Showing up for the young lady when she needed him the most could really score some points!

Unexpectedly, not a trace of concern showed on Gavin’s face. He spun the pen she’d given him between his fingers. “No. She can handle it herself.”

To be a competent team lead–and to stand in even higher places someday–she had to learn to navigate these kinds of dirty games. They were part of the path.

Her brains were more than enough to deal with this.

And at worst, it was all happening within the Windsor Group. Nothing too serious could go wrong.

Seeing not an ounce of hesitation, Neil didn’t push it. He moved on to the next matter.

“Also, the R&D vice director mentioned something else. The main house has funded a new project team for Amelia. They’ve called in favors and used government connections to push for a ‘collaborative R&D‘ arrangement between her team and ours.”

Gavin’s brow furrowed slightly. “When did this happen?”
