Chapter 257
Elias was clearly happy for me too. “And they’re a big deal. The Sinclairs.”
Hearing that caught me off guard.
The Sinclairs.
Aiden is the fourth son of the Sinclair family.
These days, the Sinclair family’s influence arguably rivals, maybe even surpasses, the Windsors‘.
More importantly, Aiden’s eldest sister is rising fast, a powerful voice in both political and business circles.
The thought sparked something in me. I quickened my pace, following Elias into a lounge adjacent to the banquet hall.
About six or seven people were inside.
My eyes went immediately to the woman in the wheelchair.
She looked to be in her early fifties, her spirit seeming a little weary, but she was beautiful and composed. The man beside her held himself with the formidable, unapproachable air of someone long accustomed to power.
Colton spotted me and waved me over. “Elara, come. See if there’s anything that can be done for Mrs. Sinclair’s legs.”
The others in the room seemed hesitant. After a silent calculation, the man–Mr. Sinclair, I presumed–spoke, his brow furrowed.
“Mr. Colton, we came today specifically to seek your expertise for my wife…”
It wasn’t that they were unwilling to let me try, but Hannah’s condition had been neglected for too many years.
They’d taken her to other doctors before; the diagnoses were always polite, but the message was the same: Incurable. Permanent disability.
After that, Hannah had refused to see any more doctors. It had taken considerable persuasion to get her to agree to this one last attempt. If I failed,
she might never agree to see anyone again.
Even though Colton had told them I was his student and the lead developer of Windsor Group’s new drug, research and hands–on healing are two different things.
But I didn’t dwell on their doubts. I walked over to the wheelchair and knelt down.
“Mrs. Sinclair,” I asked softly, “would you allow me to examine your legs?”
I could feel the tension in the Sinclair family.
They were terrified Hannah would refuse outright, making any future attempts at treatment impossible.
“I will,” she said, her voice quiet. She looked at me, and I wondered what she saw there.
“But these legs of mine…. the doctors declared them a lost cause years ago. Do you still want to look?”
“Yes.” My answer held no hesitation. As soon as I spoke, my hands, clean and steady, rolled up her trouser legs.
The muscles had severely atrophied from years of disuse.
It might have been unsettling for some, but I’m a doctor. My expression didn’t flicker. I secured the fabric and began pressing firmly along her legs with measured pressure.

Chapter 257
Hannah felt nothing the entire time.
I saw the disappointment flash in the eyes of her family. They’d known, deep down, that coming to New York was probably another dead end.
I worked my way up. When I reached her thighs, I increased the pressure. I saw the faintest furrow appear between her brows. A quiet wave of relief washed over me. I looked at Colton. “Teacher, I can treat this.”
My verdict was simple and direct.
The Sinclairs stared, utterly shocked. The way they looked at me shifted instantly, as if I’d suddenly become the most precious person in the room.
Hannah’s brow remained slightly pinched. “What did you say, young lady?”
“Mrs. Sinclair,” I began, having already formed a preliminary idea of her condition, I chose my words carefully. “I can restore function to your legs.
However, it will require treatment two to three times a week for at least six months. Once recovery begins, we’ll need to continue with acupuncture for another period.”
Honestly, based on my initial assessment, I expected to see improvement within four months. But this was just a first look; I needed to leave room for unexpected complications.
