[BL] Accidentally Becoming the Healer of the Deranged Archduke novel Chapter 104

Chapter 104: "Is Brother Sick?"

Grief. The word might be most unfamiliar to Xion.

There weren’t many moments in his life where he had felt this emotion, at least not like this.

Regret, however, was a constant thing to him.

The regret of not working hard enough, the regret of trusting his best friend, the regret of being naïve. Of being stupid.

The regret of leaving behind the two teachers (Misaki sensei and Minato sensei) who had once cared for him like their own child. Although he lost contact with Misaki sensei after high school, he was still very grateful to her.

But grief? Grief had never been on the list. Until now...

The way his chest heaved, the way his brain felt ablaze with silence, he knew he had lost someone very precious.

He had lost his father figure.

Xion did not know how he had managed to sit there as Minato sensei’s body disintegrated into ash and spread into the air.

The best way to live and the best way to die is the same. Just be free.

That was what Minato had told him once, which Xion had scoffed at. He hated it when the old man would talk about death.

Yet now, all he was left with was those words he despised the most and an old torn blanket.

Leaning against the pillar for support, he stood up, cradling a tiny golden ring in one hand while his other clutched the rolled-up blanket.

Slowly, he made his way toward the main church. Whether it was God’s will or Minato’s lingering presence watching over him, he encountered no guards along the way.

"Teacher, you are back-" Allen’s words halted when he saw the condition of the boy.

There was an extra garment draped over Xion’s shoulders. The way the healer took another step it was as if he might fall under the heavy weight.

His deep blue eyes looked in a trance. They were completely unfocused, and there was no usual luster in them.

"Brother?"

Noxian was quicker to act. The little boy was already bored out of his mind. Hence, when he saw Xion, he did not think much before rushing over.

Now that he was closer, he easily noticed how dry Xion’s eyes were. With one jump, he was already standing beside Xion.

Allen, too, quickened his pace. His hand went around Xion’s shoulder to hold him steady.

"What happened to you?"

"Brother, are you alright? Did you meet a bad person?"

Two voices simultaneously spoke. However, with his ears ringing, Xion heard nothing. He just walked forward aimlessly.

If it were not for Allen to guide him, Xion might have walked in some random street and long since lost his way.

As they settled back in the carriage, Allen and Noxian looked at each other. There was obvious worry in their eyes.

They both had only seen Xion laugh and tease them. In such a long time, not once had they seen the healer show any negative emotions to this extent.

With his experience, Allen knew that Xion seemed to be in some sort of shock.

From evening to night until the ray of sunlight broke through the horizon, Xion just lay there.

When the morning arrived, the first thing Xion did was to carefully fold the blanket.

Although his usual smile was missing, both Allen and Noxian were relieved to see Xion smiling at them and eating breakfast.

While taking a bite of the pancake which Xion had no idea who made, he asked Allen.

"Brother Allen, is there any place I can bury someone’s last thing? Like a place for burial?"

Xion was new to this city, and so was Allen. Both equally naive people with no sense of location just looked at each other with a frown.

"I am not sure," Allen thought a bit after replying, "Maybe we can ask that butler? He must know about it."

Xion hummed. He looked at his plate, and there was an extra piece of pancake. ƒreewebɳovel.com

Even without asking he knew it was little Noxian who was now pretending to be focused on his eating.

Xion’s lips curled up in a tired smile. He was sure Minato sensei was someone sent by the Goddess Myrthia to guide him.

And he was also aware that the old man would most likely be in a happy place.

Even if Minato-sensei was no longer by his side, he wasn’t alone. He still had his little brother. He still had Allen, Ray, and Rael.

He had people to protect. People who cared for him. And so, he had to stay strong... just as he always had.

With a smile, he rubbed Noxian’s hair while the little boy grinned, showing his pearly teeth.
