Brent and Kellen moved towards the smallish changing area, and when they pushed the door open, they found that they weren’t alone. They had walked in on several new recruits who were also in the middle of changing. They grinned at them in their half dressed glory.
"Oh! Hey you two. It’s been forever since we’ve last spoken." Brent grinned and offered a hand. Kellen turned and placed his clothes on a small clothing rack that had several coat hangers on it. He then did the same with Brent’s, when the man got distracted talking to the new faces.
Ever since the incident with the Guides, Brent and Kellen had taken it upon themselves to check in on the new Espers and old Espers, especially during such a stressful time. They’d been rotating between different tables during lunch and dinner, making sure that they were talking to everyone. They didn’t have a direct list of everyone working in the Guild, but if you got in with the right people, you would hear everything.
Brent had been using his charm and personality to get everyone to talk to him, while Kellen had been using the skills he had learned from Guiding Center B. Kellen, not being as nosy as Brent was on any given day, didn’t try to pry into who Brent then slept with. He felt that if he did, he wouldn’t be able to look at anyone the same. Plus, who was he to judge? It could be for guiding purposes, and it was clear Brent was getting some, since he had thinned down quite a bit. It was not his place to judge.
And it seemed like everyone was doing...okay. The shock of the whole situation with the Guides was going to have some after effects, but it appeared that things were going in the right direction. He knew that the others in the upper management wouldn’t be able to do this, so he had taken this role upon himself. He had a feeling Hill normally took care of this position, but they were all so busy, Kellen didn’t want to bother him. He didn’t tell anyone this, not even the Captain. Kellen’s heart ached in his chest. Yeah, even the Captain didn’t know.
"Hey Caleb. I forgot you were a new recruit. What are they having you do?" Brent asked, and Caleb flushed, and Brandy, another new recruit, laughed.
"Caleb has to shower himself with his powers. You know, like he’s cumming." Brent chuckled as Caleb turned bright red. Caleb was bare up top, exposing his well defined chest. It wasn’t anything like Kellen or even the Captain, but he was impressive. He clearly cared about his appearance. He was wearing the lower part of his uniform, but it was clear that these weren’t his pants, since they were torn in several...choice spots.
Brandy wasn’t much better. She was finishing pulling on her outfit, which was basically a band covering her breasts, her Esper jacket, suspenders with silver buckles, and vertically striped dress pants. She looked quite charming, and she winked at them. "Poor guy is embarrassed since he’s never had to use his water powers like that. At least he doesn’t have fire powers like I do. I feel like a fucking fireman." Brent gave her a thumbs up.
"Hey, I’d gladly be a damsel in distress if it meant that you were going to come save me." Brandy’s face flushed at Brent’s smile and teasing words. She coughed.
"You’ll just say that to any Esper." Brent widened his eyes, pressing his hand against his heart.
"How cruel of you to say that, Brandy. Haven’t we grown closer through guiding?" Her face blew up, and she huffed.
"It’s just guiding! That doesn’t mean we are best friends!" Brent pretended to be wounded by that, falling to the ground.
"Ah! Kellen! Help me! I’ve been gravely wounded!" Kellen glanced between the two of them and sighed. He turned his back to their theatrics, and pulled off his shirt. The mood in the room shifted, and he felt three sets of eyes on him. Turning, Kellen showed off his bare chest as he hung up his gym shirt, before taking off his sweatpants till he was just in his underwear. He folded his pants up, before hanging them up as well.
The three of them were still staring at him, silent. It was uncomfortable, and he had no idea why they were staring at him. Not wanting to make a big deal out of it, he began pulling on his Guild uniform.
"Oh no. Who is going to save you?" Kellen deadpanned, hoping that was what they wanted. He pulled on his Guide pants, and Brandy was the one who broke the silence with her laughter. He could feel that everyone was still staring at him, including Brent. It wasn’t like Brent didn’t see his body when they worked out. Kellen usually only wore his shirt for a period of time before he took it off. He got too hot.
"As opposed to me, who looks like a string bean next to you." Kellen glanced at Brent, really taking in his form. He had slimmed down compared to when he had arrived here, but Brent had always been slightly smaller then Kellen. It was because the man was active as a Guide, where Kellen wasn’t. But that didn’t mean he wasn’t taking good care of himself. Brent’s muscles were still defined, he still looked chiseled, but when put next to Kellen, it was obvious what he used to look like. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
After a few moments, an assistant knocked on the door, before poking her head inside. She looked all four of them up and down before a smile broke across her face.
"Good! You’re all changed! Wonderful, follow me. We’ll start with you first, Brandy." The four of them shuffled out from the changing room, like a row of baby ducks following their mother. The assistant brought them into a world that Kellen had never imagined himself involved in his whole life.
Everyone involved with the shoot were Espers. They were using their powers in ways Kellen would never have thought to if he’d had them. They would do anything to get better shots, better reactions, better models. They were all professionals as well, and Kellen could feel himself getting overwhelmed. He didn’t like being somewhere where he didn’t have a lot of information.
It was Gwen who came to his rescue.
The assistant had led those who weren’t involved right away over to a darkened area just out of range of the actual area where the shoot was taking place. It was dark enough that those posing couldn’t see them over here.
It also happened to be the furthest point away from Hill and the Captain that someone could physically get, and Kellen’s chest hadn’t stopped aching since he’d realised that. Brushing that aside, he tried to brace himself as Gwen attacked him, wrapping her arms around her older brother in a tight squeeze.
She looked good, and was still in her full uniform, unlike the rest of the new recruits. Her expression was rosy, her eyes were bright, and she seemed very excited at the idea of this shoot. The exact opposite of Kellen right now.
