Rhys pulled away, sucking on Kellen’s tongue as he did and Kellen sighed, opening his eyes to meet his gaze. The warmth he felt from his gaze filled that part of him which had been afraid and scared that Rhys was leaving him behind. He hadn’t even realised that he had been so worried about it, but now that they had tentatively broached the topic...
Yeah. He had been afraid. Kellen had been terrified.
Not that he would find someone else, but that he was going to leave him behind.
"Hey, what’s up with that expression, huh? I’m right here. Did you want a deeper kiss?" Unable to voice anything past the crippling fear in his chest, Kellen nodded, and Rhys didn’t hesitate to kiss him senseless. The feeling of him pressed against him, their breaths mingling, his touch against his skin, soothed a part of him that had awakened with a vengeance. Kellen felt himself slowly calming down.
He continued to kiss him even after the fear had left, wanting to enjoy his touch even more. The Captain was the one who pulled away, tenderly tucking Kellen’s hair behind his ears. "Do you feel better?" He asked, pressing kisses against the corners of his mouth and his top lip, before pulling his bottom lip into his mouth and gently biting. Kellen blinked slowly, before nodding.
"Sorry." Kellen murmured, slightly embarrassed and Rhys chuckled.
"Never apologise for wanting comfort. I am always glad to give it." He told him, holding Kellen softly, as if he was the world to him. More of his uneasiness faded.
"I’m just not used to you offering me comfort." Kellen told him. Rhys frowned at his words, before softening his expression.
"Well, I can’t argue with that. We haven’t been a pair for long, so I will be gracious and allow you time to get used to it." His tone was haughty, but it was the way his eyes sparkled that gave him away. Kellen felt his body relax further as he chuckled.
"How big of the Captain of the Saturn Guild. You’re so generous." He nodded.
"Of course I am. You should keep in mind just how big I can be." His smile shifted, and Kellen swallowed. He had forgotten for just a few moments that he was partially naked on top of him, his hands on Kellen, and Kellen’s hand on him. He’d wiped their cum off of them just a few moments ago. Why the hell had he relaxed so easily? The man was a danger to him. He wanted to eat him up, and he’d admitted that! ƒreewebɳovel.com
Why did that sound like not a bad plan right now?
"R-Rhys, I am aware of how big you can be." Kellen told him, trying to sound serious even as his eyes creased with his smile.
"Well, I’ve known Sakura for a while...so yes, I would agree to it. Sergei too, he’s also strange." All the stories he had been told in his Guide program about S Class Espers were that they were crazy. They walked a fine line at all times. Violent, aggressive, dominant. Most S Class Espers were treated like feral animals instead of humans. Yes, they were always powerful, and often formed their own Guilds, but that was to create a place where they belonged. A place where they could have a family of their own.
On the flip side, the S Class Espers of their city were...tame in comparison. Kellen had met other S Classes before, since he was his parent’s child. His parents had friends, or acquaintances who were higher Classes. So, from a young age, Kellen and his sister Gwen had been exposed to the people society considered ’monsters’. Kellen had never considered them such. Sure, some of their behaviours were sometimes...strange, but they were still people. It might be why Kellen was always so upset when the Captain referred to himself as a monster, and Kellen as the monster tamer.
"Kellen, you can say I’m strange too. I wouldn’t be upset. We’ve already discussed that I reset my sanity at least once a week." He was laughing again, and Kellen hated it. Kellen knew his face was stiff, but he wasn’t going to relax. Not when this was the topic.
"As I was saying, I was aware that our S Classes are a little bit strange, but at that meeting I understood just how much of a difference there was. There were about seven of us in total. I won’t tell you who exactly, but they were all fairly well known names even at the time, and more so now. Some of them brought their pairs, while others, like me, had no one. Well, we brought our seconds, but I would never consider Gunther anywhere near a pair." He shivered, and Kellen let out a nervous laugh. He had a feeling that the Captain’s feelings were mutual in that regard.
"Gunther would agree." Kellen told him, and the Captain nodded, still twirling the lock of hair.
"There was a tension among us. It felt...huge. It’s hard to put it into words. Unlike when I meet with Sergei and Sakura...there was an underlying sense of animosity. They were all Captains like I was, but even in the middle of a destroyed and desolate area, it felt like we were about to fight at any moment. I’ve never felt that with the other two. Maybe it’s because we all love the city, or the fact that our headquarters are so spread out, but we’ve never reacted to each other like that. It was consumed, as if another force was taking over my senses, telling me to fight them. To prove I was stronger. That I was top dog." He shook his head. "It was insane, considering some of them were SS Class. I would have gotten crushed, and I was still very much wet behind my ears. Once I got over that feeling, everything went smoothly.
"The other Espers spoke about the feeling right away, and they actually seemed impressed that I managed to sit down across from them without smashing the landscape around me. Some of the others there did, as if they were flicking away an insect. It was a shocking experience, since they were so casual about it. It was made clear the other reason why we had chosen the area that we had. They had some valuable insight into the inner workings of S Classes, and some interesting theories too. Like about why S Class Espers even exist in the first place." Kellen wasn’t sure what to say, so he didn’t interrupt him, and let him continue speaking. It also felt like he needed to get this out, tell someone.
