Chapter 333: An explosive meeting part 3

Kellen moved. He wrapped Casper in his arms and made sure that the man was out of that coffee shop as soon as he could. He got them into an elevator, and he had them going towards his office as soon as he could.

He would have called Brent right away, but one, he was in an elevator, and two, Brent was finishing up the class that he had run out of as soon as he received the text. Kellen would update him as soon as he could, but for now, it was just him and Casper.

"Kellen, what do I do?" Casper whispered, clearly upset and Kellen didn’t know what to tell the man. He didn’t know what to do? If he was in the same position as Casper, there were two options he saw before him.

Confront Gunther, or run away. Both were terrifying in their own ways.

Espers were fucking insane, and Kellen knew that the Saturn Guild was different for the most part, but even the Espers here knew. They all knew that one right slip up, and they could be back to the crazy version of themselves.

Gunther, given the news he had just been told...probably was on the more of fucking insane instead of just regular insane right now, and Kellen would venture a guess that Casper knew that better than anyone else. Rhys probably knew, but Casper...he was the one who had joined a Guild for him.

"I don’t know." Kellen said on a sigh. "I had hoped that we would have had this conversation in a more quiet setting, and without you there, but we can’t always get what we want." Kellen muttered and Casper let out a wet laugh.

"You’re right." Casper said. "Fuck. His face...he looked devastated. Kellen, I don’t know what to do. Should I just leave? Would that make this easier?" There was a chance that it could, or things could go horribly wrong. frёewebηovel.cѳm

"Casper, you know Gunther probably the best. How do you think he would react if you two had this kind of conversation and he went away to cool his head, but when he came back you were gone?" Casper gasped, his face going even paler.

"He wouldn’t react well." Casper whispered and Kellen grunted, having a feeling that that was exactly what he had expected. He tightened his grip around the other Guide, supporting him as the elevator doors opened at his office level. Kellen helped Casper down the hallway, and with his free hand he messaged Brent. He then called Pamela.

He knew that Casper would need more than just him around, and he knew that they were close. Pamela? He honestly had no clue where she was, or if she was even in the building. Most of her work involved her speaking to others, and often, that was outside of the Guild. For about a week her travel outside of the Guild building had been put on a halt, but Rhys had lifted her traveling ban recently.

She could have been outside of the Guild when all of this went down, so it was far that instead of texting her, he called her.

What he wasn’t expecting was how breathlessly she answered the phone.

"H-Hello? Guide Woods? What’s wrong? You’ve never called me before." He frowned, staring in the direction of the phone he held in his hand as he continued down the hallway, a weak Casper in his arms.

"Am I interrupting something?" Kellen asked and he swore he heard familiar laughter in the background. Pamela cleared her throat loudly.

"N-No! Nothing of the sort! What’s wrong?" Kellen shook his head, sighing. If she was up to no good, it wasn’t any of his business. He had bigger fish to fry, and he’d already warned her. There was only so much he could do.

"Gunther found Casper in the coffee shop. It was a rather...intense meeting. He fled, and Hill and Rhys went after him. I have Casper here and we’re heading to my office. If you are nearby, I think that it would be a good idea for you to come be with him. I have to go replace those two upstairs until they get back. Well, technically those three." Kellen said into the phone and Pamela inhaled sharply on the other side. He began to hear shuffling around.

"Oh my god. Is Casper okay? Gunther didn’t-he didn’t-" Kellen knew what he was worried about, and he sighed.

"No, nothing like that. He was actually...very upset that we were protecting Casper. He didn’t take it well. Casper said that they weren’t dating, and that seemed..." Casper flinched in his arms and Kellen sighed. "I would suggest hearing it from Casper, if you can. Are you too far away?" Kellen asked and Pamela was silent for a moment.

"I’m...in my office." She admitted softly and more soft laughter filled the phone.

He put the phone against his ear without checking the caller i.d.

"Hello?" Kellen called.

"Hey, just got your text. Class just ended. Do you want me to rush over? A few kids wanted to have a chat after the lesson but if things are a bit more urgent on your end..." Kellen groaned.

"Uh, let’s do this. You send them up to the conference room, I’ll meet them there and chat with them there, and you come down here and help with Casper. Pamela is supposed to arrive here as well, but I would prefer a Guide with him." Kellen told his friend and Brent clicked his tongue.

"Alright, I can do that. What about your parents?" Kellen glanced back at Casper who looked miserable sitting on his couch for the second time over this reason.

"I...I think he needs friends, not parents right now." Kellen told him and Brent chuckled.

"Fair enough. Message heard and understood. You should reach out to your Mom if you need help upstairs though. You said Captain and Hill chased after him?" Kellen nodded.

"Yeah. He didn’t take it well. I don’t think anyone could, but it was the worst way it could have gone. Didn’t even get to touch the topic that we wanted to." Brent let out a sigh.

"Fuck. Sorry to hear it man. Well, I’ll leave you to it. I’ll let the kids know the plan, and I’ll see you soon." Brent hung up, and Kellen turned his gaze towards the man barely holding himself together in his office. Undoing a few buttons on his shirt, he shoved his phone into his pocket and turned towards the snack bowl.

He was going to have to make a few calls after this, but for now, this was where he could start. A few sweet treats couldn’t hurt the situation, and given how distraught Casper was, he needed a distraction. Kellen could worry about what he was walking into upstairs after. For now, it was about Casper.
