"Your wife is Isabel Ashford," Adrian said coldly. "I only have Isabel Hayes here."
Julian's narrow eyes squinted, but he didn't argue about her identity. He simply asked, "I'm just asking, Mr. Blackwell, are you trading for Selena or not?"
Adrian glanced at Selena, who was barely conscious after inhaling the toxic gas.
"Mr. Reed, you're not showing much sincerity."
Julian smiled. "Patience, Mr. Blackwell. Since my son could create this, his mother can certainly create the antidote. I'm asking you now, Mr. Blackwell, do you want to make a one-for-one trade?"
Adrian scoffed. "You're on my territory making such demands. What can you do if I refuse?"
"Oh, there's a lot I can do." Julian's smile faded. "Adrian, for what you've done to me and my wife's friends, I will settle the score with you, slowly. You can try and see if you can take Selena from your own turf."
"Mr. Blackwell," Shadow approached. "Fighter jets have appeared overhead. Admiral Hawke is on his way."
Adrian looked at Edmund.
Edmund met his gaze through the mask, chin tilted up, still holding a small pellet in his hand. The threat was clear.
How did such a rare genius end up in Julian's hands?
If Admiral Hawke was coming, why wasn't the boy under his protection? Wouldn't that be safer?
Adrian turned and went back inside.
A short while later, he came out with Isabel.
"Mommy!" Edmund immediately dashed over and hugged Isabel.
Isabel stroked his head. "I'm sorry for making you worry."
Edmund shook his head. "Mommy doesn't need to be sorry."
"Daddy!" Oliver followed them out. Seeing Isabel being so gentle with another child, he remembered the past two days. "Daddy, I don't want Mommy to leave."
Adrian had someone take Oliver back inside.
He looked at Julian and gestured toward Selena.
