Blizzard First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 316

Old Mr. Reed had smacked him right on the backside with a rattan cane.

Back then, her grandmother was still alive, and she would hold Isabel, chuckling. "That's not for me to decide. Whoever our little princess likes, that's who will be my grandson-in-law."

Later, Kate remained unmarried, leveraging the Caldwell family's connections and her own abilities.

When she was finally on solid ground, she found him.

But she didn't bring him back home. Instead, she spoke of Harold's affairs.

His grandfather was also constantly drilling it into him.

He and his mother shared the same wish: that he wouldn't end up like Harold, a man who walked in darkness, mixed up in the wrong crowds.

They wanted him to avoid a violent end.

Besides, his mother's family and social standing at the time were another reason she couldn't marry Harold. You couldn't walk on both sides of the law.

But since she'd had a son, she couldn't just ignore him and watch him go down the same path she had turned away from.

Despite his grandfather's and mother's plans, he had still turned out just like Harold.

The only difference was that he was luckier. He had no weaknesses.

Until now.

To break away from his past would require a bloody battle.

What really infuriated him, though, was that bastard Adrian trying to kill him while he was down.

"Dearest Mother, send a message to the Blackwell family. Let Selena suffer a bit, too. Otherwise, your daughter-in-law is going to fly the coop."

A momentary lapse on his part had created an opening.

"Also, you need to get serious. It's obvious Adrian has no intention of letting go. What will you do if he gives up Selena for Isabel?"

"Impossible," Julian said with certainty. "The person in that golden tower is too important to him. He's been scheming since he met Selena as a teenager, investing so much time and effort. He won't let it all fall apart at this critical moment."

Kate suddenly laughed. "Julian, you were willing to clean up your own act for Isabel, paying such a painful price. How can you be so sure Adrian wouldn't give up Selena for Isabel?"

"He doesn't love Selena; he's just using her. If his feelings for Isabel are as intense as yours, he definitely will."

Julian fell silent, feeling another sharp pain in his chest. "You really are my mother, aren't you?"

Kate said, "I'm just laying out the stakes for you. You shouldn't be so blindly confident. After all, Isabel hasn't fallen in love with you, but she most certainly did love Adrian."
