Blizzard First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 340

Julian called out to him, “Come here.”

Edmund gave up the idea of going with Isabel.

After Isabel and Evelyn left, he said to Julian, “I feel like Mommy is different with me now.”

Julian chuckled. “You’re a big boy, what are you ‘feeling’? Peel an orange for your old man.”

Edmund felt something was off, but he peeled the orange for Julian anyway.

Julian must have made arrangements with Kate Caldwell in advance.

A car was waiting for Isabel when she walked out of the hospital.

She was brought to the laboratory Kate had prepared for her without any trouble.

“This place is huge,” Evelyn marveled.

“This is a government facility, of course it’s big,” Isabel said. “It’s filled with brilliant minds.”

A staff member led them to a door and handed them a temporary key card. “I’ll come get you when you’re finished.”

He then handed her a note with a number on it.

Isabel took it, thanked him, and opened the door.

She didn’t start making X-1 right away. Instead, she took the pill from Edmund and began to analyze it.

“What are you doing?” Evelyn asked, then remembered. “I heard Oliver got sick from inhaling some unknown gas. You don’t suspect…?”

It wasn’t that Isabel suspected; she just wanted to be certain. X-1 could be used on Oliver, but it wasn’t a miracle cure. Mrs. Blackwell was right about one thing—she wasn’t a god.

Isabel’s hands paused. That was true. Edmund wasn’t a typical six- or seven-year-old. And he had always been obedient to her, agreeing to whatever she said. He was incredibly well-behaved.

But then she thought about his background. And that genius-level intellect. It was possible he was just putting on an act.

But she didn’t want to think of him that way. Edmund’s affection for her was pure; he wasn’t trying to use her or get anything from her.

Perhaps Oliver’s body was just naturally weak. The travel back and forth between countries, combined with inhaling a large amount of the gas, had triggered a reaction.

“You can wait over there. I’ll be quick.”

Evelyn moved to the side to wait.

Isabel scanned the lab. It had everything she needed. She had made X-1 so many times that it was second nature to her, taking only a moment. She made a few minor adjustments based on Oliver’s condition, but it didn’t take long.

By lunchtime, she was back at the hospital.
