Blizzard First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 355

"When did I ever trade you for Selena?" Adrian frowned. "That day during the snowstorm, the situation was just urgent."

He seemed to realize that didn't sound right and softened his tone. "I didn't know how important your right hand was at the time."

Isabel didn't want to talk about it anymore. She held out her hand. "Give me the phone."

Adrian didn't move. "To call Julian?"

Isabel said, "Yes. I want to see how he is."

"He'll live," Adrian said before turning and heading upstairs. He didn't give her the phone; instead, he locked it in the safe in his study.

Isabel let out a cold laugh, picked up the new phone, and expertly dialed a number.

Kate Caldwell answered. "How are you?"

"I'm fine," Isabel said. "How's Julian?"

Kate rubbed her aching temples. "Don't worry, his life isn't in danger. He just got out of the emergency room and is recovering with me. He probably won't be able to contact you for a while. As for your situation, I'll figure something out."

"Don't, for now," Isabel said. "Just look after Julian. When he wakes up, tell him not to come looking for me."

She paused. "No, he's too stubborn. Ms. Caldwell, just tell him to wait for my signal."

Kate asked, "Do you have a plan?"

There was a plan.

But she couldn't say what it was just yet.

Isabel hummed in agreement. "Don't worry."

Kate didn't press further, just told her to be safe and hung up.

Isabel logged into her messaging app and left a message for Evelyn, asking her to let her know when she got home.

She also messaged Miles. He and Edmund had left earlier, so they should be arriving soon.

"Mom." Oliver came downstairs. "I ran the bath for you. You should go wash up. I'm going to help Martha make you something to eat."

With that, he ran off to the kitchen.

Isabel glanced toward the kitchen, then went upstairs.

She habitually went to the guest room.

It was only when she entered the bathroom that she remembered the guest room didn't have a bathtub.

He would stop by the Blackwell Group, and then take Oliver abroad with him.

During the short periods he was in the country, however, she was always busy taking care of everything for him.

He just hadn't thought any of it was particularly noteworthy.

If she had been focused on her research the whole time, he might have been more impressed.

He didn't say anything else and turned to leave.

He ran into Oliver on his way downstairs. "Dad, is Mom done with her bath? The food is ready. It's all her favorite dishes."

Adrian gestured behind him. "Go call her in the guest room."

Oliver thought Isabel had finished her bath and was changing in the guest room.

Many of her clothes were kept there.

"Mom."

Isabel was lying with her back to the door. When she heard his voice, she finally spoke. "I'm not hungry. I'm not eating."

Oliver didn't dare provoke her. He turned around and went to bring the food upstairs.
