Isabel had never asked about the golden shrine at the Grey Zone.
It had nothing to do with her, so she never cared.
She was surprised Julian had been keeping an eye on it.
“You should be resting, not gossiping.”
Julian laughed. “I just wanted to see Adrian on his knees. I can’t even imagine the sight, let alone witness it.”
Isabel had never pictured Adrian kneeling, either.
But what did he have left to kneel for?
The person in that shrine was so important to him. He had prepared for so many years, staying by Selena’s side, protecting her, only to give it all up just like that.
But again, it had nothing to do with her.
“Get some rest. I don’t want to see your wounds still unhealed when I come see you.”
Hearing that, Julian knew she had another plan. “Alright. I’ll be waiting.”
Isabel hung up and was about to head upstairs.
Oliver stood there, holding a box and looking at her, his big eyes filled with hope.
Isabel’s gaze flickered away as she started up the stairs.
Martha had no issue with Oliver and wouldn’t try to persuade Isabel, so she just played with him.
But Oliver wasn’t in the mood anymore. He sighed. “Martha, can you help me?”
He could see how close Martha and Isabel were.
Martha shook her head and sighed as well. “Young Master, I really can’t help you with this. I tried to talk to you when your mother was injured.”
But at that time, his mind was completely focused on finding Selena.
He had even disregarded Isabel's injured hand and made her draw a protective charm for him.
Even she would find that hard to accept.
“If you care about your mother so much, why were you always so close to Selena before?”
“And if you liked Selena, why do you want your mother back now?”
Besides, Isabel had given him chances.
When Oliver first started getting close to Selena, she had tried to reason with him.
She thought he was just a child who didn't understand, and that she shouldn’t hold a grudge against her own son.
But later, she realized it was hopeless and gave up.
And once she had given up, she gave up completely. Even when he came to his senses and wanted to apologize, she wouldn't forgive him.

Isabel was in the guest room, half-reclining as she read through some information on her phone and chatted with Felix about pharmacology.
Calculating the time, she figured it was about right. She stood up and went downstairs.
“Where are you going?” Martha asked, gesturing toward the bodyguards at the door.
Before Isabel could speak, one of the guards came inside. “Mrs. Blackwell, we’ll take you to the hospital.”
Isabel grabbed her coat. As she was putting on her shoes, Oliver came over. “Mom, why are you going to the hospital? Are you not feeling well? Is your hand hurting again?”
