Blizzard First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 370

“He died in a car crash trying to save me.”

Adrian let out a self-deprecating laugh. “His parents were discovered and killed, but he was never exposed or targeted for revenge. But me, the youngest son of the Blackwell family, I was a target for our enemies. He did it for me…”

“Back then, we were just teenagers. Our lives had barely begun.”

“I had finally found a way to save him.”

“But…”

He didn't have to say what came next. Isabel already knew.

The window to save him had long since passed. Even finding Selena now would be useless.

Julian had said the Golden Pagoda was destroyed, and the people at Grey Zone still had no idea what had happened.

But none of that concerned Isabel.

Still, she wasn’t a machine. She was a person of flesh and blood. She felt no pity or sympathy for Adrian, but she couldn’t remain entirely unmoved.

“There’s no medical procedure that involves trading one life for another. As hateful as Selena is, you don’t get to decide if she lives or dies.”

Adrian leaned back on the sofa, his eyes closed.

At her words, his eyes moved beneath his lids, but he didn’t open them.

“In the end, I couldn’t save him…”

He paused for a long time. “Isabel, I have never been unfaithful in this marriage. Nothing inappropriate ever happened with Selena. And about your hand…”

The man’s sharp Adam’s apple bobbed slowly. “When I’m gone, Daniel will make arrangements for you. He’ll set up appointments with professors from abroad. Just tell him whatever you need.”

Isabel didn’t respond.

Time ticked by, one second at a time.

Mrs. Blackwell threw a tantrum, insisting on coming to the hospital, which led to a fierce argument with Charles Blackwell.

Charles grew tired of it and left her alone.

He had a feeling that Isabel wouldn’t actually let Adrian die.

“Are you going to ignore your own mother now? I went through so much to give birth to you, and I’ve never done you wrong. Open this door!”

Daniel tried to intervene. “Ma’am, perhaps we should let the couple talk alone. Maybe if they talk things out, everything will be fine.”

Mrs. Blackwell didn’t trust Isabel one bit. If Adrian wouldn’t open the door, she would find someone who could.

But just as she unlocked her phone, the hospital room door opened.

“What is it?”

Adrian stood in the doorway. “Didn’t I tell you to go home?”

“Should I go home and wait for the hospital to call me to collect your body?” Mrs. Blackwell burst into tears. “Are you going to keep me from seeing you one last time?”

“You’re giving your final moments to that jinx instead of your own mother?”

Adrian’s head throbbed. “Everyone has to die eventually. What’s the point of a final goodbye?”

“After all these years, it’s not like you’ve never seen my face before.”
